Drool.
3mm Stonehaven? You’d have me as a customer instantly.
We get slapped around, but we have a good time!
19/05/2015 at 14:51 #24575Angel BarracksModerator20/05/2015 at 14:43 #24631Angel BarracksModeratorNow that Stonehaven is attracting more settlers, the community is starting to thrive.
New businesses are opening up, more people coming to trade, more people with money to spend and of course borrow. The Wasberg family being shrewd folk have set up a well defended bank.
Protected by a Nielson Force Fence and a local security group they are confident they can meet all your financial needs.Need to borrow or deposit your hard earned Newro (New Euro) then the Wasberg Moneylenders is for you!
21/05/2015 at 13:59 #24690EartherParticipantI reckon a couple of dishonourably discharged RDF gunsharks, with a few debts and fully loaded KR16 knock-offs from an illicit Badlander 3D print facilitator, could easily ‘acquire’ a significant amount of neuro from the Venerable House of Wasberg if need be. Unless the family have been generous to the mercenary cartels again.
I feel a scenario seed is a-germinating…
21/05/2015 at 14:57 #24696RhodericMemberAlso a suitable target for Stonehaven riots when the prices of off-world-produced foodstuffs skyrocket after the last cargo shuttle for the next seven months mysteriously disappears somewhere over the Anvils.
21/05/2015 at 19:49 #24707Angel BarracksModerator21/05/2015 at 21:19 #24708RhodericMemberThe fluff is growing on me. I must admit that initially I found Kometenmelodie a tad too dreary and miserable-looking a planet when you first debuted it some years back, but I see the charm of it now. To me it’s a bit like Carpathia from Outcasts, a bit like Caprice from Heavy Gear, and a bit like something entirely its own. I also find it inspiring to see other people use the existing fluff as a canvas, like Earther did. It inspires me to do the same.
Those riots, by the way, are to be known afterwards as the “milk and sugar riots”
21/05/2015 at 21:50 #24709Ivan SorensenParticipantHow would you feel about a small call-out in the “Fringe” setting, next time I do more fluff for Clash/Five Parsecs?
21/05/2015 at 22:03 #24710EartherParticipantAB’s fluff is great, and is just loose enough for the old Traveller GM in me to hang loads of the good stuff on.
Rhoderic, I’m liking the Stonehaven Milk and Sugar Riots, it got my scenario gland going. What if our dastardly ex-RDF duo were undertaking their heist as the riots were kicking off? That would be an intense scenario I think!
And what if the aged old don of the Wasberg familia decided to grab some compensation for his losses once the supply shuttles started dirtsiding again? Wasbergs private contractors try and seize several ship’s worth of containers from the shuttle port – The Stonehaven Kraftwerks Compound? Unfortunately for the mercs, BPI black operators/agents have been dispatched to protect some illicit company shipments. And the RDF have had some legit intel about the Wasberg hit from a local Junker informant…
Argh! The gland! It spews!!

Mail me up with the plans!
You guys!
I best get to work on my new rules then.
They are drafted, just need to test them.
They would suit this to the ground..They are single figure rules but each model is a character and you play with about 5 models per side.
Merc team vs the RDF
Robbers vs the Militia
etc etc21/05/2015 at 22:46 #24712Ivan SorensenParticipantI’ll email you tonight or tomorrow.

The fluff grows as the models get made.
The models get made as the fluff evolves…It’s ALIVE!!!

Go for it! This is why I love being part of the online miniature gaming community.
A far-sighted hobbyist/gamer might make sure to get one set of figures that could pass for both rioters and rage-infected Dreamholmers for when that aspect of Kometenmelodie is explored. (Not that the ordinary AB civilians couldn’t pass for rioters as well, assuming one is doing this in 6mm.)
Oh, and another great thing about this kind of collective brainstorming is all the further scenario seeds that are strewn about as a byproduct of sorts, to be picked up at leisure. Is there a treasure trove of sugar and powdered/condensed/stasis-packed milk waiting to be discovered somewhere in the Anvil range? What happens when enterprising colonists discover native sugarbeet-analogies, nuts/seeds/beans from which to make a decent milk substitute, and tree bark that brews into a tisane superior to tea, and this leads to a significant weakening of EarthGov’s and BPI’s mercantilist hold over the colonists? What future adventures await our two ex-RDF scoundrels? What if those stolen Newros need to be data-laundered by an expert hacker before they can be safely used, but hackers on a wild frontier world like Kometenmelodie are few and far between, and prone to be quite unhinged?
22/05/2015 at 11:09 #24754Angel BarracksModerator22/05/2015 at 12:23 #24758RhodericMemberCool! If I get one I’ll want to convert it to have a “mast” topped with a cluster of CCTV cameras for keeping a watchful eye over the surrounding streets (I’m aware, of course, that such a thing can’t reasonably be cast in resin). I’ve yet to make an order from you but you’re on my list.
22/05/2015 at 13:09 #24763Angel BarracksModerator02/06/2015 at 12:14 #25512Angel BarracksModeratorI have some progress on my Ishtar Merchant.
I made a foot rest for Ishtar.
Made a rough harness and hook for the ped pullers and made a little rod/hole do-dad so that it hovers above the ground. It is designed so that Ishtar and the wagon can be taken off the base.
That is because this is Ishtar as he drives around.I will be using the same hover wagon but with another base for when he sets up his wares to sell.
This will have the wagon hovering still, the peds untethered and a standing Ishtar selling some stuff under the shade of his pull out canopy (the white thing on the side of the wagon)pics thus far.
02/06/2015 at 16:00 #25523EartherParticipantLooking gooooood. Is Ishtar’s ride going to get a fancy-schmancy decorative paint job? Or are you going for battered and worn?

Now that you have posed the choices, I am no longer sure….
02/06/2015 at 16:18 #25528EartherParticipantDoh! Soz mate.
Maybe a battered underside and grav modules (as Kometenmelodie is harsh) and a fancy ‘jingle truck’ style gaudy roof?
02/06/2015 at 16:21 #25529EartherParticipant…initially I found Kometenmelodie a tad too dreary and miserable-looking a planet…
That’s probably how the first wave of colonists felt then!

But Ishtar’s ride is looking good so far.

I do so love you.
This will be on the site tomorrow.
10/06/2015 at 11:37 #25965EartherParticipant18/06/2015 at 13:21 #26285Angel BarracksModeratorFinished the base and the basic model.
I need to add some extra touches such as some crud next to his chair and probably some stuff hanging off the end/sides.
I also want to make the grooves in the repulsor pads emit some bright energy glow, just trying to figure out how best to do that. Then I will start work on the other base that goes with it.
This will be a selling base, which will have a dismounted version of Ishtar along with his wares and so on.Then a write up about him.
Then the market after that…
18/06/2015 at 13:26 #26286EartherParticipantDoes Ishtar have a cybernetic leg? Or is it one his nearly famous patented Silver Space Wellies™?
Looking good BTW. I like how the wagon looks ever so slightly floaty.
18/06/2015 at 13:42 #26288Angel BarracksModeratorDoes Ishtar have a cybernetic leg? Or is it one his nearly famous patented Silver Space Wellies™?
18/06/2015 at 14:28 #26293EartherParticipantOh, very cool! Ishtar’s a cyberpunk!
Now I want to know how he ended up with cyberware! I’d like to say a Razor Hound took his leg, but I’m guessing he’s an ECM veteran or something?
“Ya want some black-market pharmaceuticals? Go see Tin-Leg Ish, he’ll sort ya right.”
18/06/2015 at 14:32 #26294Angel BarracksModerator18/06/2015 at 14:41 #26295EartherParticipantIshtar is obviously a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. And very handy with a KR16 assault rifle.
19/06/2015 at 12:19 #26342Angel BarracksModeratorHere we have the start of the other section.
You can see now that the green thing on the side is where is canopy is stored, good for keeping sun/rain of his wares…I found a little techie box to go on the wagon near his seat and on the floor we have some pots/jars that contain some more unusual herbs and spices, the start of his stock.
19/06/2015 at 16:11 #26358EartherParticipant‘Unusual herbs and spices’ eh?
Never trust a man with a Stonehaven copy of a North Korean counterfeit of a Swiss prosthetic implant.
Great idea for a vignette. Intrigued to see you use this set up in a game…
20/06/2015 at 11:59 #26379RhodericMemberThe real question is how he travels the Badlands without armed escort…
“You messin’ with Ishtar, you messin’ with the Junkers!”
Very cool seeing this character come gradually more alive.
On an entirely different note, are you planning to model any more native vegetation for Kometenmelodie? IIRC, the KR-16 fluff makes out the region on which the story is centered as having a temperate and rainy climate like that of the British Isles. I’d love to see more trees and bushes and reeds and whatnot. I assume that much of what we’re seeing of the ground is in fact grassy/shrubby vegetation in the typically drab colours of the planet, as opposed to bare earth?
20/06/2015 at 13:42 #26380Angel BarracksModeratorYes.
The orangey grass is indeed a tall grass.
The brown you see everywhere is what passes for grass in the Liao River Valley, it is more of a weed/lichen/moss than Earth like grass to be fair… still the Jurapeds seem to like it.Terrain wise currently there are the Deema fields and the rocky outcrops.
I have some hand made terrain with the LRV’s version of trees.I have been meaning to have a crack at modelling / casting some of those but never gotten around to it, I must…
15/07/2015 at 11:07 #27701Angel BarracksModeratorIshtar the merchant is complete.
He uses an old hover wagon that he has modified to be a shop/home.
He travels Kometenmelodie moving between the Liao River Valley and the Badlands, selling what he can.Today we see he has some urns full of spices, a MK. II release valve, some ThermoDuct piping, some sleeping bags and an agri-bot.
No-one is really sure how he got his cyberleg, or how he manages to travel the distances he does on his own, and not get robbed or mauled.
Some say he is ex ECM, others that he is the best shot with a KR16 assault rifle on the planet, others that he is just lucky.Whatever his story, he seems here to stay and maybe, just maybe he has that special item you need.
15/07/2015 at 14:35 #27702EartherParticipantVery cool. I especially like the implied hoveryness and the ‘liberated’ agribot.
15/07/2015 at 17:16 #27712Alexander WasbergParticipantIt came out lovely, the small details really make the model that much greater!
