I’m a long time 1/72nd scale plastics collector and painter.
The periods I concentrate this interest on are napoleonics, ACW, ww2 and ancients. Thought I’d document my ancients painting in this thread.
I use them for DBA and Hordes of the things.
this is Robin Hood and maid Marian from Airfix. It’s a hero stand in HotT or a general in ‘historical’ lists.
i use the 25mm basing, and when I play against club mates, some use 25mm figures and it weirdly looks ok. I would have expected it to not work.29/06/2020 at 14:11 #139110
Beautiful brush work. I love that style of painting. Alas I haven’t mastered it yet. Looking forward to seeing the rest!

Amazing brush work as always. What do you use to undercoat the minis? I’ve washed, dried and used spray paint to undercoat but it seems to always crack. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Tally-Ho!25/10/2020 at 11:00 #145943
@Gone Fishing thanks!
@ian pillay thanks, I undercoat with vallejo brush on acrylic primer, paint with acrylics and finish with two coats of brush on acrylic varnish ( galleria from Windsor & Newton).
the only problem I had with paint cracking was a stand of ACW troops who I dropped and they hit several things on the way down. Some of the bayonets lost their paint.

Please keep posting these lovely models. Managed to pick up three boxes of various Zevada minis today in Lincoln for my little lad. I must say they are brilliant sculpts.

@ian pillay the zvezda models are probably the best sculpted 1/72sever produced.
An Aztec command stand. Old revel miniatures.
