It depends whether the new owners will be using the name ‘Angel Barracks’ to market the range. If they’re not I would hang onto it, you might want to use it again in the future.
20/02/2018 at 11:20 #84986John D SaltParticipantI think it might be confusing if the business under that name is still trading and registered.
Legal disclaimers of some form indcating that where “Angel Barracks” and “Angel Barracks” are heard together, the party of the first part might not be the party of the second part, might be more confusing still.
Compared to these, the confusion caused to new joiners of TWW when the old hands continue to use the handle “AB” to refer to the user called “Sir Basil Nardly-Stoads” (or whatever name you might choose) seems milder.
The Gokmop Towers Steam-Powered Confusatron says you should roll a die for it.
All the best,
John.

.
20/02/2018 at 16:07 #84998Guy FarrishParticipantWhat they said ^^^^^^(possibly with the exception of the new user name: “Sir Basil Nardly-Stoads” ).
If the new owner will be keeping the range name ‘Angel Barracks’, change it.
Do I give a monkeys? Possibly a small Capuchin.
20/02/2018 at 18:19 #85016Norm SParticipantKeep it, I presume, the buyer is keeping their own name and just absorbing your range, so you are still Angel Barracks – all I know is that you are not Mike!
Is the Angel Barracks business still involved in wargaming?
Good luck with whatever plans are afoot.
20/02/2018 at 19:38 #85023greg954ParticipantI am no longer the 6mm sci-fi that is associated with that name.
And for that reason I would change it to Crom’s Anvil. Angel Barracks is not what you are about anymore. You have “Mike” account for modulation and this account was to show your wargaming side. CA is your new business, the focus and direction which you are now going. Plus since it is your business, associate yourself more with CA username. Angel Barracks will be nothing more than a username with no association attached.

Good point, will keep it as is.
21/02/2018 at 12:26 #85081John D SaltParticipantOf course that deprives you of the opportunity of doing something along the lines of the Artist Formerly Known as Prince. “Formerly Angel Barracks” would make the rather nice abbreviation FAB, thus making people think of Thunderbirds and iced lollies rather than able seamen or a blood type.
All the best,
The Artist Currently Known as John.

That almost cost me a keyboard, the funny caught me off guard. Well done!
As said above, only ditch the name if it’ll cause confusion. If the new owner of the line will not be using the AB name, then I think you need to weigh what you think the impact of the Angel Barracks name really is. Do you feel it carries weight within the hobby and is worth keeping for recognition? Does it have any bad-blood attached that may be worth shaking off? What do you see yourself attaching to that name at a later date?
And let me tell you, never underestimate the damage a little name confusion can do.
Fun fact: DSG was originally going to be called “Square One Games” (because I was starting a new career and business from scratch after the economy went into the toilet). Was registered, licensed, had logos and website all done up, and even some shirts ordered for me for when I go to Conventions. Then I started getting barraged by lawyers and creditors that were after a smartphone game company that was DBA “Square 1 Games” that did not appear on the title search. Was quite messy, and even though it all had nothing to do with me I still ended up having to pay about $2,500 in court costs just to prove it wasn’t me and I had nothing to do with any of that mess. So, new name and licenses, etc (still no shirts though…) In the end, name recognition can be a great thing, especially if it is associated with positive vibes. But go the other way and it’s a pain in the rumpus!

21/02/2018 at 15:32 #85091General SladeParticipantIf you can hang on to the Angel Barracks moniker I would. I remember it from way back before you set up TWW and I always thought it was a good name for a games company. And I don’t really associate it with 6mm sci-fi. Didn’t you start out selling terrain items or am I mis-remembering that?
21/02/2018 at 15:33 #85092OldBen1ParticipantWhat about:
Overlord Master ?
Lamentation of Your Women?
The Hammer of Crom?
The Artist formerly known as Angel Barracks?
