Hi David,
1) Sea state not included
A huge difference when spotting e. g. a small vessel from a very small vessel which is bounced in a choppy sea rather than in a calm sea, at night.
Any reason why you do not consider the sea state as a modifier?
If you would, how do you propose to implement?
2) SpottingĀ – size of target and observer
“The marker should approximate the size of the craft that it represents.”
A marker you want to spot is somehow pre-identified very much by the marker’s size: “Captain, I think it is Vosper (very small) rather than a Fairmile (small)!”.
So the spotting table with sizes of target and observer looks somehow absurd to me. It takes a lot of the spice to play with spotting.
Without, you need a new base visibility chart – 1 base visibility in inches with no significant moonlight, a basic for the modifiers?
