All,
I am getting into some 15mm modern skirmish gaming, and while researching I came across this:
These are “old” QRF Modern US Infantry, and have now been replaced with newer (Iraq/Afghanistan-era) models.I HAVE TO HAVE THESE!!! I’m sure that sounds funny, but they’re perfectly awesome for me. You see, I joined the Marine Corps in ’95, and the only way I can put it is that these figures look just like we did, humping all that crap. The uniforms, the weapons, the bulkiness of the gear, it just reminds me of how we looked, and I have to have some, ideally enough for desert and temperate climes.
So, any ideas how I can get my hands on these? Does QRF still make/sell them? Does anyone out there have any lying around that they wouldn’t mind parting with? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

More temptation is at hand! Have a look at Flytrap Factory Marines and Humvee’s and you will be seduced some more. A combination of these and Peter Pig Marine figures and you’ll be sitting pretty, until the wife catches up with you! If you really want to go to town, check out Khurasan Miniatures (They’re closed at the moment) and have a look at their Humvee’s and their M1A2’s too. And then check out Irishserb’s Humvee’s and LTVP AA7’s. If you want some beautiful Stryker ICV’s try Acheson Creations. And of course you will need bad-guys to pit against these worthies so for Afghanistan go to Flytrap Factory and Old Glory 15’s, for Syrian and Iraqi insurgents, check out Flashpoint Miniatures and Rebel Minis and of course QRF. For Sub-Saharan Africans and Somalis a combination of Peter Pig, Flashpoint Miniatures and Khurasan Miniatures is good.
Enjoy the spiral into financial insolvency!

01/07/2015 at 15:56 #27061Just JackParticipantRod – Yeah man, really spoiled for choice which is cool and dangerous at the same time! I am impressed with Flytrap; their Marines are decent, but the Brits, Talibs, and Pasdaran are fantastic, and the USMC HMMWV with all the crap hanging off it is the best I’ve seen. I’m sticking with skirmish though, so I don’t really need much in the way of vehicles. Oh, and the PP Marines are fantastic.
Kyote – that’s right, you do don’t you? But I don’t want yours man, you need them. I just need to figure out how I can get some.

Mark from Scale Creep looked, but he doesn’t have any left.
Geoff from QRF did finally respond to say he’s looking, and I’ve pestered him about a dozen times since, but gotten no reply…

Jack27/07/2015 at 05:01 #28155kyoteblueParticipantDude because I love your AAR’s I am willing to give you the ones I have. Just let me know when to drop them off at Game HQ or mail them to ya.
27/07/2015 at 21:58 #28187Just JackParticipantCut it out Old Man! You’re supposed to be using them! You’re killing me, you’re much too kind.
I do appreciate it, and I can live without them, I was just hoping to find that someone still had the molds.
It won’t stop me from gaming 😉 I’ve already built up some sizeable skirmish forces in 15mm, with more on the way. I need to post some pics of the stuff I finished this weekend. You’re gonna love my idea for some modern Africa gaming! Looks like I’ll soon be going to war against Bongo Haram too 😉

Geoff is off in the Ukraine visiting family. You should e-mail his business partner Chas to see what he can find. Just use the TSS/QRF e-mail address and direct your enquiry to Chas.

Rod – Do you have a different e-mail address for Chas? I tried the ‘Contact Us’ deal on their web page a couple times and never got a response; the only thing that’s worked is PM’ing Geoff on TMP, and that only got one reply.

Jack28/07/2015 at 03:47 #28194kyoteblueParticipantJust Jack I will make you such a deal, I will trade you my 23 old QRF figures , for an equal number of painted new QRF figures. I posted pics of them on my Facebook page…….. Muhahahahahahaha !!!!!
Edit I miscounted there are 23 figures.

E-mail forwarded to you Jack. It has the address I use and someone (usually Geoff) gets back to me.
Cheers and good luck.

18/08/2015 at 14:47 #29478GeoffQRFParticipantChas has confirmed he still has the masters for these. We originally withdrew them when I produced the more modern versions (with M4) as the intention was then to redo them, but from comments received these seem to capture the amorphous shambling outline of the overburdened American soldier of the 1980s, so we will put them back 🙂

And the 1990’s 😉
That’s great news, Geoff, and thanks so much for your help.
