ParticipantSince the dropdown toolbar has been removed there is no way to see the latest topics or new topics since your last visit. I have to traipse through each individual board which is not ideal.
Could we please have a system where we can either: view new or unread posts since our last visit; or a new latest topics thread (excluding the traders topics), if you do then I will subscribe for sure!

ParticipantI second this request. The view latest posts/unread posts option is essential for me.

😀The drop down was allowing non paying members to access paid areas of the site, which was not acceptable.
Which is why that had to be removed.Until an alternative menu can be sorted, simply go into the main boards and subscribe to the board and you will get an e-mail of new posts (ones you have not read) and an e-mail of replies to your subscribed posts if you subscribe to a particular post, or click Notify me of follow-up replies via email.
It may not be ideal but it does work and until we can find a workaround that prevents accessing parts of the forum people should not then it should suffice.
I actually really like the system, you get a notification of new posts and replied to posts based upon your likes, rather than a list of everything new.
That may even be preferable to a list of all new posts as that will contain periods you may have no interest in?I have subscribed to each board and it took about 60 seconds to do…

Sorry to hear that.
Does TMP now offer topic/thread subscriptions then?07/08/2014 at 17:56 #3731Not Connard Sage
ParticipantGiven the low number of boards and sub-boards at the moment, it’s not a deal breaker. In fact, I’d venture that there is no need for micro-granularity on a site this size – WD3 and Frothers seem to manage reasonably well with few groupings.
If the sub-boards begin to proliferate like they do on A. N. Other wargames website it’ll become a ballache tout de suite.
Obvious contrarian and passive aggressive old prat, who is taken far too seriously by some and not seriously enough by others.

ParticipantYeah I can live with it too – I prefer to settle in for a bit of a session, visiting my boards of interest one at a time…

ParticipantI’m really happy to see this forum taking shape, but I agree that finding new posts and replies is (at the moment) a bit challenging. I’d also like to avoid having to rely on emails to find new forum items. Is there any way to highlight forum threads with new posts since my last visit? It could be as simply as bolding the thread title for example.

KeymasterOnly by subscribing to the threads you are interested in.
The problem was always a case of WordPress forum software not being as good as PHPBB forum software.
Whilst a PHPBB forum would have more functionality it does not allow the other aspects that this site needs like a news page, magazine pages, banner uploads, membership levels and so on.
Of course the other other option was to spend £7000.00 and get a nice bespoke site coded…12/08/2014 at 20:12 #4171Northern Monkey
ParticipantIts not the end of the world to have to look around bit IMHO, and its still a better format than That Morose Place!
