Doing the north shoulder of Kursk always gives me a chance to break out everyone’s favorite big assault guns. This game takes place a few days into Citadel with the German offensive running into a counterattacking Soviet force in wide open terrain. The German players had 4) Ferdinands, 3) StuG IIIs (with 2 Tank Aces), and 2 StuH42s of StuG 244. German infantry consisted of a weakened company of Grd Rgt 507 and a pair of MMGs in support. Their objective was to continue the advance south and get a viable force off the table. The Russians had 2 companies of T34s from the 51st Tank Brigade and 2 companies from the 1019 Rifle Rgt and were out to halt the Germans. Do you just rip off the flock and start again? Are you able to just on a whim throw down a table of terrain and play a little game?

It startred life as a cheap bed sheet and after dyeing and spraying to get it a green or brown base then has chalk pastels applied for roads or ditches of field delineations. Fabric fields then spray glued where they need to be. Any elevations are shapes under the fabric. Afterwards the flocking is swept up for next time, fabric pulled off and the sheet is thrown in the wash. Most pastel comes off after a squirt of spot remover. If some is still there after washing, then I just respray with cheap paint. The various respraying over the decades ( the sheets have lasted for 20 plus years) gives it a rich patina of natural shades. I can do just about any terrain needed with just 3 sheets.

And so easy! Now I’m starting to consider stealing your techniques to use for a game of Bloody Big Battles. I’ve always been interested in BBB, but the terrain has always daunted me. Perhaps when the Napoleonic supplement comes out, as I’ve got armies for that period.
Really appreciate you taking the time to share your methods.
