Not sure I’ve expressed that properly. I just wondered how far away a man had to be before you he appeared to be the size of a 6mm figure held at arms length or thereabouts?
Same with 28mm and 15mm.

6mm at 600mm away (arms length) is 1:100 ratio
1.8m person would be 180m away to give the same ratio.
Easy stuff !!!

29/05/2022 at 15:30 #173756Jim WebsterParticipantI think Tony may have answered me, if I read him right a man has to be 180m away to look 6mm

My purpose was to work out how much detail you really see at that distancehttps://jimssfnovelsandwargamerules.wordpress.com/

For 6mm about 300 M away, far too close for a change of tactics.
Bruggeman’s Roman Army pages has a handy graphic for this very purpose, half way down the link.

Thats a great practical graphic that would really be handy for training those legions.

My way of trying to solve the problem was walking around with a ruller at arms length but i quickly realized I didn’t knwo how far away people were without getting out a mil scope. -
