ParticipantNot sure I’ve expressed that properly. I just wondered how far away a man had to be before you he appeared to be the size of a 6mm figure held at arms length or thereabouts?
Same with 28mm and 15mm.

ParticipantUse similar triangles.
6mm at 600mm away (arms length) is 1:100 ratio
1.8m person would be 180m away to give the same ratio.
Easy stuff !!!

ParticipantI think what he is looking for is how far away does a man have to appear 6mm high?

ParticipantI think Tony may have answered me, if I read him right a man has to be 180m away to look 6mm

For 6mm about 300 M away, far too close for a change of tactics.
Bruggeman’s Roman Army pages has a handy graphic for this very purpose, half way down the link.

Thats a great practical graphic that would really be handy for training those legions.

ParticipantThis is interesting. I’ve had the same question for a long time.
My way of trying to solve the problem was walking around with a ruller at arms length but i quickly realized I didn’t knwo how far away people were without getting out a mil scope.Tired is enough.
