This is game 5 in the Britton Publishing Operation Jupiter scenario book. I actually played it in January but has taken me a while to finish writing it up. In fact, I had finished writing it up a month ago but other things seemed to take priority rather than posting it (call me a slacker if you wish!).  I upscaled the ratio to use my own rules but kept the same number of figures on the table. It pits infantry and Churchills against some dug in Germans on a ridge. Just about all Airfix and Matchbox 20mm plastics,  Full battle report on my blog:

    Shaun:

Interesting report. It’s a shame there was no chance for the Churchill Crocodiles to flame some German positions as that would have made some great photos. Thanks for posting and I look forward to your next struggle around Hill 112.

    Cheers and good gaming.

I have about 8 of them from the 80’s.  They are my favourite British late war tank.

Thanks Rob.  It may not be until 2016 until I can get the table out again and play some more games in the campaign.  Hill 112 was fairly bloody and so I think I may be in for the British losing some of the games in the future.

That’s awesome Shaun, but what is this crap about 2016!!??  You’re killing me!

And you’re magic dice certainly made it look a little like a pushover, mister.  Of course, I’m just jealous as I always seem to be getting my butt kicked 😉

2016, 2017?  What is a year anyway? 🙂  Though you should see some 6mm action in the meantime, and maybe some 20mm skirmish.

    What’s a year!?  It’s a long damn time, Shaun! 😉

I certainly look forward to both you AND I getting back to Operation Jupiter then, and I look forward to seeing whatever else you get into. even Ancients, which I still find intriguing.  I want to take a look at Dux Bellorum in particular, or anything you might recommend, and some Pendraken Greek city-state-type Imaginations stuff.

Though I really don’t have the money.  The wife and I just committed to some home improvement stuff; it looks like I won’t be buying any new minis until 2025…

Jack – you have so many projects and stuff still to paint and you have just said no money, so stay away from new projects such as Ancients!  I have Dux Bellorum but have not played them but from all accounts a great system for dark ages.  I do have a little  ww2 and Ancients stuff to writeup and post.

I have some unpainted ancient lead….but it’s 15mm. I also bought DBA 3.0 but have yet to read it.

Most of my unpainted is 20mm WW2 – about 20 tanks and some AT guns, some of it German early war.  If I paint them, I will be have to buy those Russian BT-7s and T-26s!

    Oh Shaun:

Don’t forget to buy BA-20’s, BA-6’s, BA-10’s, BA-32’s, BT-5’s, BT-7A’s, BT-8’s, T-28E’s and T-35’s! In huge numbers! Also remember that repeated human-wave attacks require lots of infantry, marine-troops and cavalry; lots and lots of cavalry. So get to shopping for all that Soviet kit right away for you must protect the Rodina-Mat!

    Cheers and good gaming.

Rob, don’t put me off 🙂  But was thinking of some T-35s as well.  I don’t really paint much and 20mm is not geared towards large amounts of stuff.  I think 3-4 each of BT-7s and T-26s will be enough to get me started.  I have 6 unpainted Panzer 38(t) I have had for at least 3 years so I do want to start small!  But I do have about 200 Russians single figures that hopefully will be enough for any game.  No cavalry 🙁

    Shaun:

No worries mate! Just funn’in with ya. My comments were really more a critique of my own mental process/addiction than anything serious. You see I have gone out and bought all that stuff and much of it still needs to be painted! But quite seriously, a bit of cavalry in combination with armoured cars can make a great game!

    Cheers and good gaming.

Didn’t know it was time for Shaun’s Annual War-game Day!!! how did I miss this…too busy giving Jack a hard time…(BTW that’s not a goat joke)

Hey when did you buy those Voodoo magic and highly illegal “Jack’s Lucky Dice ®”!

The Brits must have been the only ones using them too!

An interesting scenario…and I just gotta love those Croc Babies

And never mind Rod Roy Mc Schwarzenegger’s heavy handed reproaches…he lives in world where everything is precisely what and where it should be…except his own marbles…he’s harmless really…  just don’t mention Rugby…he’s a little touchy feely about that

Good to see you back my friend and keep up the good work. See you in 2016 🙂

War Panda – “see you in 2016?” – is that when you will be posting your next AAR? 🙂

I would not dream of saying anything about you or Rob – My google-fu is probably not good enough to find the memes required 🙂

Apologies for the name slip Rod.  I know no Rods as friends or at work, only Robs. I hear a Monty Python skit in the background (my best friend’s name is actually Bruce!)

Its kind of confusing: His real name is Rob but he likes to be called Rod but most people around here know him as Ron or Rot. Or Rotten Ron.

His friends call him Frank (no one calls him Frank)

“The great Gaels of Ireland are the men that God made mad,
For all their wars are merry, and all their songs are sad.”

Well at least nobody calls me Panda! That would be humiliating.  I’m Rod – short for Roderick and I’m proud of my name. I don’t hide behind bellicose, ursine pseudonyms to disguise who I am. I also go by Ruairidgh, Rory, Roddy, Evilroody,  and Schwamper. Rob, Ron, Rot, Rat or other variations on the R-theme are not recognised. You can also call me rotund or round but these, while accurate, are adjectives and not proper nouns.

The only time I can be Frank is when I am casting aspertions on Ireland and the wee, deranged people who come from that wretched island. It’s true that the Scots came from Ireland but at least we had the good sense to pack up and leave when we saw who our neighbours were! Good riddance, I say!

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

    Cheers and good gaming.

“It’s true that the Scots came from Ireland but at least we had the good sense to pack up and leave…”

“And on that day they offered great sacrifices, rejoicing because God had given them great joy. The women and children also rejoiced. The sound of rejoicing could be heard far away.”

The Annuals of Ireland or as some non-Irish refer to it  as “The Bible” (Book of Nehemiah) describing the Irish on the day the Scots left

“The great Gaels of Ireland are the men that God made mad,
For all their wars are merry, and all their songs are sad.”

    War Panda:

Like the Irish needed an excuse to drink and “rejoice”. That quote describes every Friday night in Ireland’s long and sullied history! It’s not surprising that the Irish we’re happy, our departure removed an acute cause of their inferiority complex, a superior Celtic civilization!

    Mr. Average:

Does that mean I can claim infallibility when I play wargames? How can I leverage this?

    Kyoteblue:

You wound me sir!…. Anyway, he started it!

    Cheers and good gaming.

    Shaun:

No worries about the name mix-up.It happens all the time.

Please don’t take my attacks on Ireland seriously or personally. It’s just that, that infernal escapee from the Keeblers Cookie Labour Camp, that fluffy, black and white noisome nemesis, that depraved pixie of the Land of Erin, needs to be constantly knocked down a peg or two, lest he get above himself and delude himself that he is of average height or intellect.

All insults and observations are focused on how the likes of Fitzpanda have blemished and corrupted the beauty of Ireland. And now alas, it is Canada’s turn to suffer. Woe to us for now we are the land God gave to Cane!

Cheers and good gaming whenever you can get it in.

Ron. Look I think I may have hurt your feelings earlier by my insistence to remain honest and forthright. If my sincerity has caused you distress and anguish I must confess that I do find this regrettable; if it is any consolation it is my opinion that this is undoubtedly due to you being a big girl’s blouse in a skirt….oh sorry a “kilt”

I would love to join in the banter but am to busy writing up an AAR (note to Panda – the 6th one this year, not that I am keeping track of the number you have posted. No really I am not. Three.), setting up another game and writing some rules for another game 🙂  The last one does not really count as I write rules and tinker with them all the time!

I think Shaun and Rob will have to share the win here. Touche Shaun you indeed have defeated me …I was hoping no one was keeping record…you have discovered my only weakness, factual statistics…

As for Ross I’m not sure who is the more mentally challenged; someone who searches the internet for images of dead panda’s or the weirdo who laughs as heartly as I did when I saw it.

(Roy, You have discovered my other only weakness: photos of dead pandas)
