    Sikh Wars

Bhudowal was a smallish engagement in the first Sikh War.  I think it will make a good game.  The order of battle is on my blog should you want to give it a go.  Bengal artillery from Irregular above and Bengal Irregular cavalry below.

    There’s more on my blog.

Hey thanks, OB — good stuff!

Maybe the contrast between Smith and Paddy Gough isn’t as great as has traditionally been portrayed — he certainly comes across as just as stiff-necked and hide bound here.

Speaking of which, it’s interesting to compare the idealized “Indian” Smith to the picture of him presented in the book “Frontiers”, about his dealings with the South African natives — he doesn’t come off well at all.

Thanks Hafen.  Yeah they were all the old Duke’s boys constantly wondering what he would have done.  They seriously under estimated the Sikhs.

Frontiers is a great book.  I’m often tempted to do the Xhosa wars with Rebels and Patriots.

Yes, we live with constant temptation and happily frequently succumb.
