Any good guides on painting very simple camouflage on 15mm infantry, without ending up as a smothered mess?

See, I can already make crap camo that looks like an indistinct mess 🙂

I need to learn myself, so I found these that might give some hints:

ok – I removed the links. The formatting didn’t like them. (edit – it seems it put links in all by itself!)

What style of cam do you want to emulate? Pea-dot, digicam, woodland, etc?

In 15mm, it is all about the contrast. ‘Realistic’ is where you end up as a blurry mess.

My generic simple cam is a mid-tone all over, with a considerably lighter tone then a considerably darker tone painted as slightly overlapping horizontal ‘Y’s or ‘V’s, if that makes sense.

    e.g.

    Green/ tan/ brown

    Grey/ white/ blue

    Orange/ yellow/ brown

    Tan/ cream/ brown

Examples of different camo styles from my blog:

Barks – fantastic stuff. The one thing I am noticing for all of those is that they are ridiculously simple patterns if you look closely, but they look great in aggregate.
