Was just messing around with these rules today and was in the middle of a test game when I seem to have discovered a pretty large glitch: on the ‘Damage Inflicted’ chart in the basic Napoleonic rules, it doesn’t include results for dice scores of 3,4,5,16,17,18. I am inferring that 5,16 is double damage; 4,17 is triple damage and 3,18 is quadruple damage…but could anyone tell me for sure, please?
Your inference is correct!
Ah perfect, that makes sense – very many thanks.
How did you get on with those rules? Did you play them? I’ve never tried them, as they seem a bit dated and too “fussy” for my tastes nowadays.
And, most importantly, did you buy multiple Airfix kits of the HMS Victory and chop, saw and convert them into other ships?
I did play a small game, yes, and every chance of a couple more games quite soon. I got on quite well with them – just the quick rules though. Since I have almost no idea of what is old-hat and what is modern – it may have been my first ever miniatures naval game – I don’t know about dated. My only comparison is with air wargames and they didn’t seem noticeably more fussy than them.
But alas I didn’t buy multiple HMS Victory kits and do extensive kit-bashing, or one of the other homebrewed methods – I used a handful of Tumbling Dice 1/4800 ships I had bought and painted ages ago.
And here is the first look at the game.
