Not sure where else to put this, since Piquet is a multi-period system.

So I understand that some versions are stand-alone and some require the master rules.

What I am uncertain about is the cards:

When you buy the rules, do you get the deck of cards included? Do you have to cut them out or print them? Do you use regular playing cards?

    Cheers!

Each set of rules comes with two decks of cards, one for each player, that you cut out.  Regular playing cards would be of no use in a Piquet game.  The stand alone sets are Field of Battle and Pulse of Battle.

Field of Battle is probably my favourite rule set ever although at the moment I’m having fun using The Pike Man’s Lament for the AWI/ Revolutionary War .

    Gotcha.

I was trying to decide between Field of Battle and Command Piquet. Any thoughts there?

I’ve not played Command Piquet but apparently Field of Battle was developed from it.  I’d get Field of Battle, its fun and flexible and I’ve never had a bad game with it.

Alright cool, you sold me on it 🙂

Is it reliable enough to order directly or should I find a stockist somewhere? I noticed their “contact us” link was broken, so I don’t know if the website is out of date.

    You can get it here

    http://lancashiregames.com/LG2/test-category/fie7180-field-of-battle-2.html

They frequently have Sales with a good discount if you’re minded to wait.  I’ve not ordered direct from Piquet but I think that would be OK.  The owner has blog called Wargames and stuff which he recently updated so he’s about.

You can get pdf versions of the rules and supplements from the author. Just email him and let him know what you want. I’d say that Field of Battle is a big improvement on the original Piquet. His ‘blog and email are here:
