Looking for Post Apoc films without zombies that have a gritty feel.
Can be just after, or set a fair bit after, so tech level can be a touch futuristic.

Something that can inspire a PS RPG.

    Mad Max
    The Road
    Book of Eli
    Children of Men
    Hardware
    Damnation Alley
    I am Legend
    Reign of Fire
    Waterworld
    The Postman
    The Lost Future
    Slipstream
    Cherry 2000
    Escape from various places
    Bounty Killer
    Steel Dawn
    Wheels of Fire
    Hell Comes to frogtown
    Tank Girl

Anything that sorts of go with these that I have missed?

The Salute of the Jugger, aka The Blood of Heroes. Presents also the possibility of a game within a game.

…although Damnation Alley is undoubtedly the best…

I would throw in ‘A Boy and his Dog’ 1975 ……

From a Harlan Ellison story, starring a young Don Johnson and a telepathic dog….. no, seriously ….. go with it – very post-apocalypse in look and feel….

just for fun, I’d second ‘Steel Dawn‘ – Patrick Swayze with a sword, and ‘Salute of the Jugger’ –  Rutger Hauer with Ummm, a lacrosse stick…..

That’s the one I thought of – pretty much the First Post-apoc I can think of.

you seem to have got all the good ones on your list otherwise….so here are my ‘bit of a stretch’ suggestions

Planet of the Apes (sorry, spoilers)

    Children of Men

    The Day of the Triffids

La Jetee, or 12 monkeys if you prefer

    Wall-E 🙂

    Judge Dredd!

    A Quiet Place

    The Omega Man

    The Matrix

Escape From NY and LA (looks like you have them)

    Edge Of Tomorrow

10 Cloverfield Lane (basically the very end)

    Stalker

    The Road

    Akira (?)

Blade Runner (one could argue… seeing as the interior of the US is a wasteland…)

Blade Runner and its sequel are set after a nuclear war and resultant ecological collapse. Does that count?

    You could also check out:

    Threads

    Hell (German post apocalypse)

Monsters (not the sequel, it’s garbage)

Turbo Kid (If you only watch one, make it this one)

Solarwarriors (dreadful but entertaining 80s teen rollerskating apocalypse)

Annihilation (not exactly what you asked for but still has the right vibe)

    Delicatessen

    Stalker

    Might not fit the description.

Bird Box – I like the little details like driving over dead bodies.
The Happening – talking to plastic plants.

    The best scientology could provide
    Battlefield Earth
    After Earth

Of the nuclear war ones, Threads and The Wargame are about as gritty as it gets. Not sure a game spent avoiding starvation, radiation and societal collapse would be that much fun though.

The grandaddy of viral survival was the old TV series Survivors. Great stuff.

    The Divide.

Immediately after the  bombs, on a grimness level with The Road. No mutants, no 50’s tunes, no Dog.

Great film, but not good for PA gaming inspiration, but it is grim AF.
