    Hi,

I’ve got an annoying bug, I want to post a reply to Henry’s ‘what ancient rules topic’ but it won’t let me. It says I need to be logged in to post which I obviously am.

Anyway I’m interested to see how this forum turns out. Fingers crossed it will become a must visit site.

    That is odd.
Can you check that you are logged in at the home page too please?

Sometimes people get logged out of the homepage but are ghosted in the forums as being logged in when they are not…?

    #2964

It seems to have fixed itself after I shut down and reopened my browser. So It’s working fine now thanks. Just for info I was logged in on the homepage when I tried to post and had the bug.

    Thanks,

    Ferb

D’oh! I spoke too soon I can reply to posts in the ancients forum but its  now saying I can’t post new topics as I’m not logged in.

    What browser are you using?
Can you try another and see if it is browser related please?

    #2974

IE 11 I also noticed that the black bar at the top of the screen disappears sometimes. I’ve tried it in Chrome and everything seems fine.

    Hi Mike

Not sure if you want all bug reports in one thread, but just wanted to make you aware: I just posted on the general board, and the second half of my post got chopped.
This seemed to occur when I put in an emoticon (a devils face to emphasize how devious my plan to acquire my own hobby room was), because everything I typed from the emoticon onwards disappeared into the aether.

I too can post to this board but not to a post on the 18th C site – will try the logging out and on again trick above

Oh and I am excited to be on a new Wargaming site and look forward to many discussions about history  and toy soldiers etc

EDIT Nope still cannot post on that thread – strange

I’ve noticed that the ‘time of last post’ shown on the right hand side of the forum lists is often completely wrong. Also, I’m not sure I like this feature because it can make it look as though some parts of the forum are stone dead and not worth posting to, rather than encouraging people to get involved.

Secondly, I too have had odd occasions where I’ve spent several minutes typing a post, only to have it vanish into thin air when I hit “Submit”.

My first post (to the clubs board) seems to have vanished\not submitted. It did have three URL’s in it and the main body was copied from an existing post on another forum, so did have some carried over formatting, but it appeared well formed with closing tags etc.

Browser is Chrome, and was logged in via main page.

Hitting ‘Submit’ sent me to a reply page for the topic, so is it in limbo somewhere?

Very odd, looking at your profile you have only made 1 post.
I will assume it is this one here..

I can’t see it anywhere, could you try again please?

Have managed to make my topic disappear again (multiple times), think I’ve found the cause.

I switched to IE from Chrome and copied and pasted just the text of my post with no links\formatting etc. This saved and started the topic successfully, it was fully visible in the list in the ‘clubs’ section.

I then edited to add an hyperlink in, and this saved and updated fine. I then added further links and like magic the entire topic disappeared. Have managed to repeat it once again and the offending link is a particularly long one to Google Maps. The text of the link is below, I suspect the comma’s might be to blame.

    https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=abbey+road+baptist+barrow&hl=en-GB&ll=54.120326,-3.220496&spn=0.008866,0.022724&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=9.155704,23.269043&hq=abbey+road+baptist+barrow&t=m&z=16&iwloc=A

The following might also be of interest as the invisible topics appear to still exist in the aether somewhere. This one includes a reply I made!

Didn’t realise the link would display! Else would have been more careful.

But at least we know an address on it’s own will display fine, but if wrapped in a link it can cause disappearances.

Mike – it’s happened again. Just replied to a post on the Napoleonics board in reply to Jonathan Reinhart’s question and my reply has vanished – annoying as it took quite a while to compose.

Did it have many URLs in it or anything?

    Hi Mike,

I had a similar problem to Ferbs earlier today. I could post to every board except the Napoleonic sub-board. It said “you need to be logged in to be able to reply” and “you need to be logged in to post new topics”, even though I was clearly logged in, and was able to post to other boards.

I was about to e-mail you when I checked back and all was fine. Weird. Anyway, keep up the good work.

Mike, yeah I reposted it, but without all the links and it worked. Seems to have issues with multiple links!

Hmm odd, but also, not odd..

On the news page there is a setting that prevents posts with multiple links from being displayed.
However that should only apply to comments on news articles, it seems that has leaked into the main forum…

This keeps appearing ever few days and stops me accessing the forum.  Its really annoying.  This does not happen any where else, my security system are up to date.
