While operating in Central America during the First Upheaval, the Mitteleuropean III. Panzerdivision “Erdeslicht” (now known as Earthlight Defense Solutions, GmbH) pioneered the use of “Kill-Teams,” small, rapid-deployment combined arms forces for anti-armor search-and-destroy missions. Incorporating a mix of fast, heavy “Super Panzer-VIII” grav tanks and specialist assault infantry equipped with “Regulator” battlesuits, the formations later frequently included artillery support for on-call fire. In modern Kill-Teams, this often takes the form of heavy support walkers like the Mastodon shown here, which can carry a far larger larger artillery gun and more sophisticated electronics than earlier armored artillery. The result is a small formation capable of heavy battle-line combat in a variety of situations and terrains.

My general play style is fairly unsophisticated: I like to get into the thick of it and start shooting. This made Heavy Cav and Heavy Infantry the best choice for a basic force, and a Heavy Cav HQ also made Heavy Infantry cheaper. Heavy Cav with the Antigrav upgrade is reasonably maneuverable and carries some serious firepower, and also can range just ahead of Heavy infantry, which can finish off crippled opponents or clear out occupied built-up-areas. After considering some extra infantry and a conventional Armored Artillery unit, I opted for a fire support mech instead. The support strider gives more firepower in a reasonably well-armored package that can also fire a significant barrage on the move, since it avoids the “Cumbersome” limitation of conventional fire support elements. Haha! It’s already been in combat, and did incredibly well. In that case, though, it was sans the walker and had armored artillery attached instead, as well as an additional squad of heavy infantry.02/10/2016 at 06:07 #49676
