A question I posed for the TMP collective, I have a bunch of Traveller 15mm figures currently based on half inch squares, because Traeller deck plans were gridded with half inch squares. Seemed logical at the time. However, I’m thinking of re-basing them on British pennies, which are approximately 20mm in diameter, because I might then play with my figures.
So what do people think? I ask because re-basing, need I say more?
Also, Ogre/GEV miniatures on my workbench:

I’ve rebased some figures/vehicles several times as my butterfly-like focus wanders from system to system. I hate doing it, but I’ve resigned myself to going with the flow… besides, if those square bases are stopping you from playing toy soldiers, there’s your answer!
I am glad to say I have never been forced to consider the rebasing issue.
Just never seems to have come up.
However I think if it did, I would weigh time spent doing the work versus time likely to be used with the new toys.
Unless the expected gaming time gained was significantly more then the work involved I would probably not bother.
Regards Traveller, can I ask here and risk derailing the topic or shall I start a new one…?

what he said.
What rules are you going to use? With the sci fi rules I’ve tried so far, base size or shape is irrelevant as far as I’ve understood it… however I guess I’d prefer the look of round bases, all my 15mm sci fi stuff is based on steel washers (of different diameter, according to figure – the tiny Khurasan desert nomads have 12mm bases, while the huge Brunt stand on 17mm bases).

I may re-base at some point, but for now I’m going to live with what I have. When I do re-base I shall probably use half inch washers to keep the figures compatible with Traveller deck plans.
