It’s now getting on for two months since ISMOR, and the OR society doesn’t seem to have put up any proceedings, but I have found a link to the paper I presented, which may be of interest to people who enjoy contemplating the entwiddlements and intertwingularities of tank gunnery. It tells of my attempt to quantify the advantage of the battlesight range technique (devised by Major Astley Cooper, 8th Hussars) in a tank duel.
I also submitted a paper covering the topic, which gives the gun data I collected and more detail generally, but I don’t know what has become of that. If anyone wants a copy, or the Python program or spreadsheet used for the calculations, send me a PM.
WDers may recognise the idea as being developed from an item I wrote several years ago in “The Nugget”.
One of the things you have escaped by not attending ISMOR and see my presentation live is me singing “I’m a soldier in the King’s Army/I’m a galloping 8th Hussar” at the end if it, as a sort of tribute to Major Astley Cooper.
All the best,
John.
That is fascinating . Thanks John.
