I completed another Gaslands car recently, this one is an experiment in rust! I used the GW Typhus Corrosion paint and was very pleased with the results. There’s more pictures on the blog:

That is indeed properly rusty! Looks like I can work in a pinch also on WW2 German tank exhausts and the like.

Cheers DSG. TBH, I think it will really depend on the scale you are using. With 1/35th i think it will work perfectly fine, but 15mm and smaller, you may not get the desired effect. I tried it out on small areas of some of my other cars and it wasn’t massively obvious. That said, it is a really good paint to use for rust and I’d definitely recommend giving it a punt.

Nicely done! Glad to hear I wasn’t the only one worried about painting bright orange for some rusty highlights. After googling “rusty cars” and suchlike, and seeing how bright some of the oxide can be, I tried some, and like yourself was very happy with the results!
Obviously you took it apart, but did you strip it, or prime it, or just paint the GW Typhus Corrosion right over the existing toy paint?
Cheers Tony. Yep, there was definitely a moment of doubt before I began, but I shouldn’t have worried. This one was stripped and primed, but I have some other cars which I will be painting the Typhus over the original paint, just to see what happens.

That’ll be interesting to see, looking forwards to that!
