    Been looking at Google maps & streetview to get an idea of the lay of the land of certain WW2 battlefields and remembered this website which is handy for contemporary maps, that often go back to the 1600s or so. Gives you an idea of the size of towns & cities then the battles took place.

    There is a slider bar function to bracket the date range you want the maps between.
