I did some games of SOTE and I like the rules a lot… but there is one thing about the Units actions sequence that I would like to discuss.
Units move, then fire and this created a strange (in my opinion) effect; Units move towards the enemy defending their position, then fire before receiving fire from the unit in defence… shouldn’t be the opposite? Ok these are simple rules, but I was considering this issue, what do you think?
Thank you
Cheers!
yeah, it’s a bit of an abstraction.
In the bigger picture, the attacker is putting pressure on the enemy by advancing on them.
So having them move and fire reflects that. It’s sort of an abstraction of the big picture.
If you envision the game as a much smaller engagement, you may want to not allow firing on the move or otherwise toy with it a bit.
I hope that makes sense? It’s a bit awkward to explain.
Ok I understand… it’s a simple and abstract game, I like it for what it is:)
I will do other games and experiment alternative (not allow firing on the move could be an idea)
Thank you
