I’ve made some progress on a little wargames project recently. I’m putting some armies together for skirmish games in the Cold War era Congo. I’m starting with the the Simba Rebellion of 1963-5 but I might branch out into the wider Congo Crisis and do some UN troops later.
I’ve painted a few of the mercenaries so far. They are 28mm figures originally from Mongrel Miniatures but now sold by Badger Games in the US.
Here’s my attempt at a Mad Mike Hoare style mercenary officer.
And a machine gunner team based on the footage from the Africa Addio film. Here’s a link to a reasonably tame version. The gunner is about one minute in. Caution is advised, especially for the full version, it can be pretty brutal in places.
Here’s my blog with more pictures to come and some background info, links etc. https://thebitsbox.blogspot.com/search/label/Congo%20Crisis
Simbas to come soon…
Pretty interesting project, and really nicely converted and painted. Your Simba look like they took a lot of work but came out great!
"I saw this in a cartoon once, but I'm pretty sure I can do it..."
Thanks. The Simbas weren’t too bad. Just head swaps and paint mostly, with a few bits of easy green stuff sculpting. I’m no figure designer, sadly.
