A few weeks ago, I spent time exploring the delights of North Yorkshire, which included a trip to the nine hundred year old Skipton Castle, family seat of the Clifford Family.
The family and castle have a rich history that have shaped England and Britain which include characters such as ‘Butcher’ Clifford, the 9th Lord Clifford, killed at Towton, and Lady Anne Clifford who resurrected Skipton after its slighting by Cromwell after it gained the distinction for resisting a long siege and being the last northern Royalist stronghold to surrender.
If you would like to see my impression of this great castle together with a very enjoyable historic pub to conclude our visit, then follow the link to JJ’s.

Looks an interesting place to visit.
Don’t think we have ever made it to the castle but it’s a dangerous place for shopping (esp if you like pork pies) ๐
Thank you for the post – one to try and see.
Hi Andrew,
The whole area made for a very nice week away, with Skipton one of the highlights, and yes I agree about the pies, certainly if the queue outside the best Pork Pie shop in Yorkshire was anything to go by.
Cheers

I have friends form College who now live in Skipton and it is lovely! Bolton Abbey is nice there too!
