ParticipantI bought some Peter Lammings 1/3000 cogs back in 1980 after reading some medieval naval rules in Wargames Illustrated. I played a few games in 1980 and then put them away. Last year I got them out and played a small game using five ships. Being a habitual rules writer, I wrote some rules to use loosely based of the ones from WI. I have finally got around to posting the AAR on my blog.

While it found it exciting, there are only a few pics e.g. the ships closing in on one another:

ParticipantShaun, that is very cool! I bought about 25 of these cogs on UKebay several years ago and wish I could find more. They are great little models. I also have a bunch of the 1/1200 from Outpost, but I like the tiny ones even better. Thanks for posting your version of the rules. As for the second set you mentioned with the link, have you seen a copy for sale anywhere there in the UK? I have never seen then but would like to have a set. I’ll keep an eye open over here in the US.
Thanks – Allen

ParticipantHello Allen,
I have never seen a set for sale. Lords of the Sea is available from Wargames Vault, Medieval Warfare in the Channel is in some Wargames Illustrated magazines from 1979 and A Medieval Naval Wargame was in in a 1976 Military Enthusiast magazine (but it seems the 2 pages shown at boardgamegeek is most, if not all, of these latter rules).

Apropos of probably not much, I have a copy of Andy Callan’s ‘A 16th Century Mediterranean Galley Wargame’, published by Navwar in 1978. 12pp, of which 6pp of rules!
They were still available from Navwar last time I checked.
Anyone got any pics of Magister Militum’s medieval/renaissance 1/2400 ships?
Obvious contrarian and passive aggressive old prat, who is taken far too seriously by some and not seriously enough by others.
