Inspired by the sentimental and hallucinatory 70s cover art of Gervasio Gallardo, Roger Dean and Patrick Woodruffe I’ve decided to create an “alien medieval” environment for wargaming and, possibly, an rpg. Set around Snail Fountain, the last human city and a sort of summa of all bygone human history, I want to create it in detail. Right now I’m looking for mapping software that will allow me to design on everything from a continental to local level. Any recs would be appreciated.
Campaign Cartographer is a commercial product that looks cool, but I have never tried it.
There’s also a free program called Autorealm, which I do have and it is pretty cool for mapping large areas.
Those are brave men knocking at our door. Let's go kill them!
I have Campaign Cartographer on my laptop but I’ve never been able to unravel it’s arcana enough to get it to do more than generate random worldscapes (which my Luddite ass is incapable of altering).
