Firstly the table I fought on covering the German Italian assault on the US landings at Gela

I commanded the 26th RCT defending the town of Gela itself, but I don’t know mush about what exactly happened at the eastern end of the table to fill in all that happened.

    Pre game pictures

The eastern end of our positions, I like the little touches like the stone covered well.

    The town of Gela

    Lots of German armour deploying

Advancing on Gela, supported by a small unit of pioneers, my company out in the forward positions feels very vulnerable

In the east Panzer grenadiers advancing

US forces moving up to take a critical road junction

Italian armour hiding in the vineyards so the German armour suffers from the naval gunfire

German armour herding the paratroops back towards Gela.

The Tigers arrive in the east.

Once the German aircraft successfully drove off all five of the Cruisers supporting the landing the Italians decide to attack

A bunch of fez-headed Italians burst into the centre of Gela, they didn’t last long, but achived their aim of forcing the US troops hiding in buildings to reveal their positions

Italian armour attacking along the road, ignoring all my attempts to stop them with bazookas

Folks getting excited about the fighting in Gela, note the large Italian motorised forces struggling to manoeuvre.

I lose one of my Stuarts to one of the myriad of Italian flamethrowers

But one tank in the main Italian Armoured force (R35s) was hit by a bazooka at last and the rest ran off the table

Boom, there goes on of the Tigers!

Position in the centre at the end with the German armour still failing to move forwards

Unfortunately we ran out of time, but by the end the US had achieved the majority of their objectives.

Now the airborne attempt to capture Primasole bridge.

    Pre game pictures

Folk were having too much fun on this table, here’s my pictures of the action, but I can’t say what is happening.

Finally the table I was responsible for providing the terrain for – Lentini – the drive by 5th & 50th Divisions to get to Primasole

    Pre-game pictures

I kept a slightly closer eye on what was happening on the Lentini table

    German initial dispositions

    The Commandos take Ponte Malati

Monte Pencali provides an excellent position for OPs

    Still quiet!

    British armour emerging from Sortini

    and from Melilli

British reach the German forward defence line

Seems like trouble lurks round every corner

Refreshed by ice cream the Commandos await the Germans next move.

    Italian reinforcements arrive

It’s slow going for the British main force

    Slowly pushing forward

The last Stug(?) lies in wait

All quiet in Lentine and Carlentini

British infantry trudge forward, who decided they didn’t need MT?

Position at the end with the Commandos just off-picture still holding the bridge

Excellent looking game Will, lovely models and terrain.  Thanks for posting.

Sadly I was unable to make it to the big game, work got in the way.  So its nice to see such stunning photos of what looked like a brilliant game.
