I’m gluing 2.5-inch sticks to make split rail fences for my 15/18 mm AWI/ACW Rebels and Patriot games. I think I will need about 20 feet for a 4 by 6 table. Yes I know I’m nuts.
I assemble those while watching TV. In the zone I got it down to 5 minutes a foot. 🙂
<p style=”text-align: left;”>How are you going to paint them? I stained the sticks en masse with watered down acrylic paint, which made them a nice dirty light grey and meant they were ready once glue dried.</p>
Nathaniel, I plan to spray paint them, Testors Gull Grey. Then add some flock to the bottom rails so they blend in.
A light greyish-brown wash may be nice, so you still see the real wood underneath.

Don’t forget some stones — that’s where they got piled when they were turned up by the plow. The older the fence, the more stones, eventually resulting in a “stone fence”.
Got the enclosed field done, um it’s kinda funky looking.
