I like 2mm and like big battles with them. Why am I hesitating?

Not sure – there is (I know you hate me already for this but…) the grid factor. I know, I know but it’s there. (And 1.42 is still bigger than 1 so why the sudden sprint ability diagonally?)

Almost tempting! They are very good and the low cost of putting together some armies is well worth the investment I think!

Not sure – there is (I know you hate me already for this but…) the grid factor. I know, I know but it’s there. (And 1.42 is still bigger than 1 so why the sudden sprint ability diagonally?) Ignore it, it’s an abstraction, the unit is IN the grid, but exactly WHERE doesn’t matter. To move obliquely they may have started in the top corner of the other grid and ended in the bottom corner of the grid they moved into. It confers no advantage to either side as both have the ability to move obliquely.

Moving diagonally is a risk. Just going straight forward requires a successful movement roll. Formed infantry will have 0-3 movement points per activation. Most manoeuvres take 2 movement points to accomplish and require a manoeuvre test. So diagonal moves are possible but allow 1.42 distance moved for 2 movement points and don’t happen if the manoeuvre roll is failed.

Also, two failed movement rolls in a row hand the initiative to the opponent. Unit’s aren’t going to be waltzing all over the place.

A very timely review by Herr Abwehrschlact, and as always with his YouTube work, a great production introducing lots to ruminate on……..

I still think he nicked my ‘STEEL’ moniker, though……  😉

As Mike flagged up above, the ‘hazard’ process whereby you can cede initiative to your opponent is 0ne of the nice mechanics of this ruleset
