Beautiful work as always but I really liked the way you’d gone about producing the Danzig Burgermilitar

Cheers for you kind comment Jim, I am going to do a couple more city militia as I like the flexibility in the choice of uniforms as I can make them up.

It’s not made up, it’s research.  Ancient armies have had army lists produced with far less evidence than you’ve got for Danzig Burgermilitar

(Trust me, I’m probably as guilty as anybody 🙂   )

I really don’t know anything about this period. However your brush work is outstanding. I’ve enjoyed looking at your painted miniatures. Thank you for sharing.

Cheers Ian, I seem to be on a roll with these figures I find them quick and easy to paint and I am glad you enjoy looking at them.

David at “Not by Appointment” blog sent me some excellent flags this morning, so I retrofitted both Irish battalions with new flags.

It’s only the knowledge that I couldn’t paint to anything like this standard stops me dashing out and buying the figures 🙂

Thanks Jim for your kind comment and support, go and buy yourself some of the Hat figures.   As they have raised detail they are easy to paint, the Rot Wurzburg battalion was painted with white undercoat, then washed with a linen acrylic paint, ink earthshade and contrast technical mix.  After that it was just adding the details.

Cheers Whirlwind, treat yourself and buy a load of Hat / Zvezda and Revell figures. less than £100 would get a decent couple of armies.

More amazing brush work. Do you do any special preparation on the figures first before painting?

Cheers for your kind comment ian, I coat them with PVA wood glue and after that has dried for at least 24 hours I spray with black or grey car primmer.

Thanks willz. I’ve heard that before but I’ve never had much success. My figures tend to be spongy underneath. It might be the brand of PVA I have. I might look to get some specific pva wood glue rather than the cheaper pva craft glue.

I never had that problem Ian, I wash my figures in water and washing up liquid to de grease.  Then paint on PVA wood glue ( I use Pound land PVA cheap and cheerful) watered down 50/50.
