Our Target for Tonight Campaign ended on a high this weekend at the monthly meeting of the Devon Wargames Group, with a climactic last op, game eight in our Battle of Berlin Campaign, that saw our bomber stream head off to Happy Valley.

With a light fuel load matched with a very heavy bomb lift and with a relatively close range target, Dusseldorf and its oil refining plants, in weather set for accurate night bombing all seemed set for Bomber Command to turn a series of poor results around and the result of the campaign overall.

Phenomenal campaign, and a real nail biter of a final mission!  Thank you for writing this up, it has been bother very entertaining for me as well as informative.

    Hi,

It’s been fun sharing this series of games with others who have followed our progress so thank you for your comments along the way.

As a group we have lots of memories and tales of daring-do together with all the high’s and not so high’s of a narrative campaign like this, that makes writing up each game a lot of fun and it has really added another level to what was a very clever game system, so I hope others will get to enjoy a similar experience once I’ve tidied up my first draft rule set and put them out into the world as a TfT add-on.

    Cheers

Fantastic stuff, JJ. I have been reading through the entire campaign over the past week or so and have greatly enjoyed it. Congratulations on both completing the campaign and writing such excellent reports for the rest of us to enjoy. Thank you. 🙂

I realize that the casualty rate in Target for Tonight is deliberately a bit higher than in reality, but it does bring home the many risks that the bomber crews were exposed to.

A real homage to the men who gave their lives trying to shorten the war (and their civilian victims).

    Hi AH,

Thank you, your appreciation is much appreciated and well done for following all eight games.

Yes you’re right TfT is quite a bit more intensive on the casualty rate and rightly so otherwise it would be very tedious to play, and it upped the challenge to match those casualties with a bombing assessment to come up with a victory point rate and the narrative that followed.

I think it’s about right and now it’ll be for others to decide now it’s published.

    Thanks again

    JJ
