For you weirdoes out there that actually like to follow the silly wargaming stuff I get into, I’m working on: my son and I are going to play out a US vs USSR campaign set in the 60s, occurring on US soil. We’re playing in 10mm, 99.99 % of which is from Pendraken, with me being the US and him being the Soviets. Each side has a battalion commander, a Mech Infantry Company, a Tank Company, an Anti-Tank Platoon, a Reconnaissance Platoon, a Heavy Mortar Platoon, an anti-aircraft detachment, and close air support. That’s what I have in terms of toys; it’s not likely, but it is possible either side could have all of that on the table for a single fight, but not likely. We’ll be using a modified version of Too Fat Lardies’ “I Ain’t Been Shot, Mum.”
Here’s the introductory post:
With a creepy picture:
And here’s the roster:
And our illustrious commander:

Feed my fingertips to the wolverines???
What are you talking about? Not a fan of Red Dawn, or is there something more sinister going on?

Had to Google it, sorry. That’s old Saturday Night Live, Belushi, Aykroyd, Murray, Chase, Martin.
My SNL was Hartman, Spade, Meadows, Sandler, Foley.
Please forgive my ignorance. I have to say that a lot…

Jack, when are you going to list the Bad Guys?10/02/2018 at 04:00 #84150
Wait! Canadian Lumberjacks!! What a game that would be!!!10/02/2018 at 04:25 #84151
Sorry John, not listing bad guys, nor lumberjacks. It wouldn’t work anyway, the US force is a fire brigade, operating in various parts of the country versus various Soviet units.
Tim – no sweat man, I’ll tell the imaginary Soviet commander to take special care maneuvering his imaginary units through the mountains.
On a serious note, I didn’t put a tremendous amount of work into the backstory, I just want to play some games. Should get the first one in this weekend.

Boy, I don’t know about that BC prong, lot of very high, young and jagged mountains plus a really thick woods. Let’s see some battles soon.
I agree. Shift the invasion to the MacKenzie River Delta and the Alaskan North Slope and then advance down the MacKenzie Highway to the Great Slave and Great Bear Lakes region. Then on through the Canadian Shield hills, taiga and boreal forests until reaching the northern edge of the Great Prairies. After that it’s easier manoeuvring all the way to New Orleans and Texas (Yes Jack, we’re coming for you!). Along the way branch west and east to take transportation infrastructure, energy resources and the few limited population centres until the prairies. Limited invasions a la Norway, 1940, along the Alaskan coast and the BC coast and the seizure of Vancouver Island as an off-shore vesting and forward operating base to interdict North American military responses might be advisable too. Leave the big urban population centres around Vancouver and the Seatle-Portland region alone and bomb the crap out of them to trigger huge refugee crises which North American authorities will have to divert time, energy and resources to mitigating.
None of this is really feasible for anyone pull off if North American military and economic infrastructure is not completely shattered but some options are better than others.

I couldn’t help but notice that with the exception of the trans-Cuban invasion arm of the Southern Route, the enemy is following traditional migration routes into America. The Western Route mimics the Asian migration routes hypothesised in Ice Age and post-Ice Age times and the Eastern Route follows the hypothetical Solutrean migration from Europe along an ice bridge during the last Ice Age some 20,000 years ago. What’s old is new again! To correct the Southern Route make African/Brazilians your prime baddies in cahoots with the sinister Cuban masterminds, all marching in unison up through the Central American Isthmus and though Mexico to California and the Rio Grande. The World marches on America as Ayn Rand’s Atlas crumbles and falls! Oh, and we’re Definitly coming for you…., personally! (Cue Imperial March music from Star Wars.).
