About this time last year I had the opportunity of visiting the Australian Armour and Artillery Museum near Cairns, and have finally got around to putting together a post looking at this amazing collection.

There is a lot of stuff presented at the museum, with some very rare and unique pieces of military equipment that can’t easily be seen anywhere else and this is part one of two posts looking at the collection.

That is an excellent museum, no doubt about it. Looking forward to part 2. I see they took delivery of a Panther that is valued at £14m!

Been watching the excellent restoration videos they put out on YouTube, favourite being the discovery and restoration of the M3’s and the Panther.

Thanks for the post – I’m a sucker for restoration videos (bigger the better – not little boxes or chairs etc) just watching the tire replacement on the M3 using a cutting disk…

My car is due for a pair of tires (when I stop bl**dy coughing) – sure hope they do not do this to them!

    Hi Chaps,

Thanks for your comments, I had a feeling this would be an interesting topic to start the New Year with, and I thoroughly enjoyed my visit which seems a long time ago now, and Part Two will be along as soon as I can get it done.

    Cheers
