Long before feeling forced to leave TMP as both an advertiser and forum user I had become uncomfortable there.
I found the atmosphere was not great and the content both divisive and morally dubious.
I wanted a different place to advertise and hang out.
I set about making TWW, it launched sooner than anticipated for reasons.
But the idea behind TWW still stood and still stands today.
The principle is to have a place for anyone to talk about gaming, not for gamers to talk about anything.
Boardgames, cardgames, miniature wargames, roleplaying games, video games and so on, but to be able to do so without fear of personal attacks, off topic content, and the fear of trolls.
Please bear in mind the simple principles of good behaviour.
If someone asks for help, offer it, if they don’t ask, don’t offer.
If someone asks for suggestions, feedback, or critique, offer it, if they don’t ask, don’t offer.
Keep engagement friendly, swearing is not banned, but use it sparingly and not as insult, you know: someone says they dropped their models on the floor, it is fine to say “oh shit!!”.
If someone posts a photo and asks how to improve the model, it is not fine to say “that’s shit!!”
I still think forums are the best way to create this sort of online community and the ones here need very little moderation.
The Ignore User function is handy if you find people tedious, self righteous or otherwise a bit of a bore or indeed a boor, just block them.
Don’t be a troll and don’t engage with those that are.
Anyway, be excellent to each other.
