OMG.  Is there anything you cannot do (and do so exceedingly well too)?

Seriously, you need to start getting this stuff produced.  I only do 15mm these days, but I’d be willing to start 6mm if you got your SF and Fantasy figures produced.  I guarantee it!

Well! Miniature wise I discriminate against metal miniatures, and will not use them. So I can’t play large battle games, or most of the mainstream games.

LOL.  I guess I could “soften” my lifelong dislike of plastic ones, if the plastic ones aren’t priced like metal ones.  🙂

I keep circling back to 40K. Don’t know why the setting is so attractive to me. Might be, nobody is the good guys thing that makes it so easy to want to fight the other factions or come up with econimical/political excuse for war. The abundance of lore, especially the Imperial Armor books also helps a lot.

    Digitizing the Ersatz

Went ahead and made a transport ship as well since the ones on ebay are so expensive now. Ersatz is supposed to be a corvette but is the same size as the Cobra destroyers, this being digital will let me scale the ship down.

Be glad I don’t have a Dwayne Dibley.

Maybe someday I’ll do a dump of all my models on Thingyverse, but I’m too lazy to sign up to another website thesedays. most of my models aren’t very detailed. The ships in the background are very anstract and facetted, non are longer than 10mm. The transport though si a straight copy of GW with a section deleted.

    40k head cannon

    Contain spoilers

I like the idea of whole Horus Heresy thing being propaganda. To me 40k background is so much easier explained by Rowboat Girlyman’s ultimate evil plot than half the primarchs being corrupted.

Firstly the missing 2 legions. I like to think these were the most promissing of the 20 primarchs, and were either eliminated by the Emperor (stealing his limelight) or by Girlyman to get rid of oppositions. My head cannon had Girlyman swiftly and quickly eliminating one he discovered. In one of teh Horus Heresy books it was hinted the Ultramarines exploded in size at around the same time one of the legion was destroyed/excommunicated. It fit nicely with Girlyman maneuvering to make his legion the largest and most powerful.

The other primarch actually out did the Emperor. Perfecting Astarte creation, weeding out flaws in the geneseed and create Astartes from both men and women, hence why the entire legion was destroyed.

Unlike the other Primarchs who went ahead and did their job, conquering worlds and then moving on. The Ultramarines kept worlds under their control. The World Eaters were similar, installing the Cult of the Emperor on worlds they conquered. Quite a coincidence that the Ultramarines were the ones the Emperor chose to enforce his no religion rule on them. World Eaters were a rival, being second largest legon (if I remember correctly). It fits too well that despite Ultramarines being the largest legion, they aren’t out there bringing as many worlds into compliance as possible, and rather administer over THEIR empire. The fact they’re sitting around is probably another reason why they were chosen to stop the World Eaters.

It’s no coincidence that the traitor legions were all the ones Girlyman couldn’t control. Horus was too capable and dangerous, the others were too different in their method of war to accept the Codex. Iron Warriors and Imperial Fist coudn’t be allowd to be on the same side so the Iron warriors were driven to become traitors so the traitors could quickly break loyalist fortification and keep the momentum going. What Girlyman coudlnt’ risk was the war dragging on long enough for someone to ask for a truce or question how it all started.

The Alpha Legion probably knew of all the scheming that went on and was why they chose to side with the traitors. Alpharius probably rescued one of the primarch, hence Omegon. Otherwise the record would ahve said there were 21 primarchs to begin with. Armed with the knowledge of Girlyman’s ultimate plan, the Alpha Legion tried to assasinate Girlyman in one book. Magnus, the primarch of the Thousand Suns used his psychic power to warn the Emperor of Horus turning traitor. If Horus hadn’t mess with the orders to have the Space Wolves detroy the Thousand Suns then Girlyman probably would have done something.

Once the Heresy got underway, the largest legion was somehow absent until it was all but over, making sure that Girlyman has the most power and the biggest say in the aftermath. He then went around the galaxy chasing after the traitors, eliminating evidence and rivals, covering up the truth. Girlyman secretly singled out and defeated the remaining Primarchs (the loyal ones that disappeared mysteriously), one by one, they disappeared. Leman Russ might have known the truth but was too loyal to the Imperium or didn’t wants his pups to be exterminated to say anything. Or maybe he did secretly confront Girlyman, and why he never returned.

After the Emperor went comatose Girlyman enacted his plan, bringing out teh Codex. If he felt any survivor’s guilt for being late at all he would have deffered to Dorn who the Emperor chose to defend Terra. Instead he showed his true color (ultramarine blue) and was ready to go to war over it. Dorn backing down was the only thing that stopped the Girlyman Heresy and played into Girlyman’s hand.

The Codex was created to cut other legions down even more than the attrition they suffered. Despite every legion being divided, its obvious each chapter has strong bond with chapters from its parent legion, so it wasn’t so much to cut down power or stop chapters from banding together, but to disperse possible opponents. His own legion however was so large compared to the others that the’ll be everywhere. The main role of the Codex was to strip away other legion’s innate advantages from their geneseed and doctrin. Agressive or innovative chapters are forced to use the fixed organisation set by Girlyman, while his chapter benefits from having their own support structure in the Ultima Segmentum. If it ever came to another civil war the Ultramarines has the best infrastructure to expand its legion.

Most recently. Somehow, Girlyman woke up from inside a stasis field. He’s now the ultimate honcho in a galaxy that worship him second only to the Emperor. He somehow also has a new breed of space marines ready to go (secretly been developing and building chapters) that were safer to create and are the bestest. Lore wise he secretely put the process into mostion after the Heresy, so the technology must have already existed at that time or were close. So yeah, to me he stole the technology from one of the destroyed legion. With the Emperor and otehr primarchs out of the way, he could take partial credit in developing it.

GW new Primaris fit so well with me idea of one of the lost primarchs having developed the technology and was censored by the Emperor out of jealousy. Bringing back Girlyman played into my head cannon even more.

It’s not all that great. I’ve been trying to make a new tool since last year but there seems to be a shortage of size 0 color shaper tips. I had to order this from China but the quality is very different.

Finally! Escorts for my carriers. Scaled them wrong and they’re twice the size they should be.

Not sure what scale they work out to be, the DDs are a tad over 50mm and DE is a little over 45mm.

I’m a total neophyte how do you use a rubber tip in sculpting? What material are you sculpting with it?

Whatever you are doing with it is fantastic

I use the standard green/gray stuff putty most people use. The rubber tip is what I use maybe 2/3 of the time to push putting into place and form shapes. The pointy tip of the old one was kind of ok for detailing 6mm faces but the new smaller tip should be better. The blade part of the tool is only used for details and hard edges. I don’t knowi if it’s just me but I never liked hard tools on putty. I’ve experimented with carving tools out of wood and prefers that material over metal. The problem with was I could never get the tool to be small/thin enough to do details.

    Tiny Warbird High School

After WWII Japanes was bankrupt. Schools were funded based on how many students attended it. An enterprising headmaster tok advantage of the abundanace of disgarded aircraft and bought a surplus bomber from a nearby airbase, using it to drop advertising leaflets and application form for his school. Within three years most school adopted the same method, recruiting students from far and wide. Some schools even flew students in from neighboring prefectures. Comeptetion between schools were fierce and soon fighters roamed each school districts, protecting their airspace from poachers.

With the mini civil war (Sengoku Hikouki Judai) going on between school districts, the Japanese governent passed a lay in the mid 60s, prevent the procurment of military aircraft and teachers from flying them. The aircraft industry and schools fought back, side stepping the law by producing 70% replica aircraft and having students fly them.

Students who flew, did so as a member of the After School Warbirds Club. The best and talented High School pilots were often recruited by prestiegous schools and universities in Tokyo. I’m surprised there hasn’t been an anime like this yet.

It does seem to be the next logical step in Anime development after the Girl-Und-Panzer copycatting.  Will the planes fire paintballs, or is actual death involved?

I’m thinking most planes shotdown would make a crash landing to be recovered and repaired if possile. The ones that breaks up or explode mid air could have their pilots comicaly thrown out and dangling under a parachute.

Thanks. No idea how I’ll use them though. The original idea was for age of sail ships using the long 40mm epic 40k base. These ships are too long to fit those bases. My tiny spaceships from last year was supposed to use the same base.

Yet another attempt at multi posture skirmish. This time I have rules to go with it. The focus is less on posture and more on gear the minis has on.

Geared up, pistol, standard, taking cover, casualty. The minis are a bit chunky, being scaled up from 3mm.

    So far in 2021 I’m working/worked on

    6mm monster slayers samurai

    3mm fantasy stuff

    2mm Astartes Adventure: Tiny Expedition

    Tiny Warbirds High School

    Tiny ships

    6mm Slow Burn

Fantastic, I knew you’d get around to it at some point! Still need more poses though: running, crawling, throwing a grenade, casually, etc…

And since you’ve got a pistol drawn, need rules for changing magazines and running out of ammo 😉

Dude! Come on. This is already 5 minis I have to paint up for a single character -_-‘

To be honest I did have more poses (including running). Each gear combination, plate carrier, backpack, helmet+NVG, various weapons had their own set of minis. It was running at around 25 minis per character. Applying it to 1LOVE, 2SEXY, 3SOME and 4PLAY would mean 100+ minis. I’m not that crazy.

    Solving my aircraft ID problem.
Recently I’ve developed a dislike for painting aircraft tails or wingtips different colors to differentiate them.

Since all my minia are magnerized, I punched out some paper, put a magnet on it and fill out the shape with putty. Great thing is, I only have to make a single set of these and can use them with all my minis.

Only made seven colors since thats all the different colored dice I have. Didn’t do black because it’s not usable for space games. I also left out white because I like to use white dice for random events and other misc rolls. If I can find some more colors for 7mm dice I can always add more.

One unmarked A6M2 for comparison. In the image purple and blue cloose similar bit they’re OK in real life.

Could also get the same result using 15mm and 25mm plastic counters and blue-tac.

These aren’t suitable for casting so no chance of copying them. I wouldn’t mind sculpting some for you if you know what kind of poses you’d like. I’ve ran out of ideas for poses.

Man those are fantastic!!!  I just might take you up on that offer.  And I think those could be casted if the model maker is good enough.

Those poses really run the gamut, the only others I think you could do would be runny, shooty, and shouty poses.  The yellow guy mid far left, something about his hair/taupe that just cracks me up!

Nope, I gave up on the human race and am now fully converted over to the goblin fanclub. They’re for Starport Scum games.

More seriously, I pretty much gave up on modern settings now. I keep wanting to incorporate hecliopters into the game like I keep bugging you with your Vietnam game. The easiest solution I’ve found was to quit the time period. I’ll probably go steampunk or similar alternative history.

    Tinier Air Combat
I’ve played a few games but didn’t post it. I hate stopping to take photos every turn. Then I got distracted by A-4 Skyhawks.

Charter member of the space goblin fan club, eh?  Sounds interesting.  I don’t know anything about Starport Scum, but I’ll keep my eyes peeled for what you get into.

And you can’t give up on the modern setting, if anyone can figure out the helos integrated on the table with infantry, it’s you, so quit screwing around!  I’ve got a boatload of 6mm gear for Vietnam, with tanks, APCs, helos, and riverine as well, and their counting on you 😉

Didn’t take photos because… you are killing me!!!  Selfish bastid 😉  Having said that, A-4s are cool.  Speaking of A-4s, I’ve finished up my CH-34, two CH-46s, and an A-4 Skyhawk, all in 1/100 scale for the next tour of Two Brothers, I just haven’t had time to photograph and post them.
