ParticipantI recently became interested in 6mm Sci fi miniatures gaming thanks in large part to Clash on the Fringe and the AARs that have also been posted on this website. Following the journey of the crew of the Cormorant has been thrilling.
The following images are of the first batch of my infantry. They are GZG NAC infantry, but will be playing the part of Quansec Operatives. Their first mission objective will be to investigate a Quansec Terraforming colony that has fallen out of contact. The colony will be made up of Quansec Prefab shelters, which are also pictured. These are still evolving though, and will look different by the time I get gaming. Things are being held up mostly because I am a school teacher, and also because I am trying to make some more terrain.

ParticipantGood stuff im interested to see what else you come up with, if you look at my blog I have a few posts relating to my own 6mm sci-fi stuff including some home made scenic (in an earlier post) http://ablogofwar.blogspot.co.uk/2015/12/6mm-sci-fipost-apoc-project-iii-scenics.html

ParticipantJust joined up on your blog, lots of cool stuf on there already.
I always love it when people do individually based skirmish in 6mm.
Looking forward to seeing what else you come up with.
You say you bought Clash on the Fringe and FiveCore 2nd edition + Five Parsecs from Home, how do they compare?
07/01/2016 at 15:28 #36351Thuseld
ParticipantI haven’t actually managed to get either set of rules to the table yet. I also haven’t even opened the PDF for Five Parsecs. I couldn’t tell you what I think of the difference.

ParticipantHere are the different poses and a commander for the GZG NSL infantry. This squad will be facing off against the Quansec Operatives (although I might make these guys Quansec, and the others the other corporation). I need to come up with a name for the oppsing force now.

ParticipantHere are a few updates to my arsenal. I have a handful of APCs now for my Quansec operatives to travel around in. I cannot wait to get these on the table.

ParticipantI will try and figure my camera out at the weekend, and get the lighting right. I would love to have some group shots though, and maybe even get a game in.

ParticipantI’m always glad to see another convert to the glory of 6mm 😀
You had some really cool junk-builds going on over at your blog, looking forward to seeing more!
I’d love to see more of the minis as well, especially if you can get some brighter shots 😉

ParticipantI might invest in one of those portable photo booths with lamps. It seems like that would be the best option at the moment as my camera doesn’t seem to like my daylight bulbs.

ParticipantFinally, at long last I have a group shot of one of my factions. There are a couple of extra miniatures who belong to the command element, and there are some who are waiting to be painted, but this is the majority of my force.
I feel the light has improved by using two lamps.
I have been working on my terrain also, but my camera ran out of battery power while taking these photos.

ParticipantI managed to sneak in a bit more creative time last night. Here are some terrain features to fight over.
I decided my board would be far too flat with only buildings and vegetation to use, so I bought some cork heat mats from Tiger and set about chopping them up. I also wanted them to be customisable so I did not glue them together.
Here we see a patrol travelling through a settlement. I am pleased with the buildings but still feel like they are lacking details. I just don’t know what to do to them.

ParticipantNo doors. Should I just paint a black square for a door? Numbers? That sounds cool, but I would be scared to paint them on. Googling decals.

Participantany old stickers will work or simply print some numbers on paper and pva them on no need for fancy decals, as for doors a roundish bit of flattened putty applied t the buildings and painted would be both eacy and effective. Loving the full faction picture , nice work!

I also have my modular space station as inspired by the Planet Ares 6 blog, which some of you write. It is now primed and just awaiting decoration.

ParticipantPrimer dried. Looking nice and grey. I decided I didn’t want to waste time painting so took some Sharpies to the sections. I feel they have a sort of cartoony look, which I like. I would like it to feel more like Firefly/Aliens/OT Star Wars so might do some more work making it seem more worn out. But as it stands, I am ready to have a game on here. Now to read the FiveCore rules and build some teams.

ParticipantCool!!!
I really like that tile with the room in the middle, I’ll have to put one on my to do list.
Don’t worry about them being cartoony, once you put some minis and scatter terrain on them the cartoon effect will be a lot less.
I look forward to seeing some in game pictures.
Cheers,
Stroezie.

ParticipantThese still require a little work, flocking and some shading on the mecha, but in general I am pleased with how they are coming along. Ready for Horizon Wars.

ParticipantAh yes, the colony buildings of the Muller Corporation!
We joke, but I am writing Müller GmbH into my world. It will be one of the main protagonist organisations competing to control what is suspected to be a system with an alien discovery.

ParticipantMy order from GZG arrived. It contains a bunch of miniatures I will be using as light mechs. I have glued them to magnetic coins, textured the bases and now need to prime and paint them. That might be what I do on Friday night. I also have another order on the way with some awesome stuff. Pics to come.
