ParticipantMy new WWII project in 6mm.
I intend to use various rules sets, but play games using as little space as possible. I am excited by this.

ParticipantAfter a long hiatus I am back with much more progress. Here is my armoured infantry. Plus some M10s.

ParticipantThat 5′ x 3′ table you used for the Bolt Action games will be excellent for a good bash in 6mm or for a decent sized skirmish with plenty of room for manoeuvre.

ParticipantNew blog post about grass. It is a massive improvement.
Can I be bothered to re flock all other infantry now.

ParticipantI promise I haven’t forgotten about this. I have just been making slow, plodding progress. The main thing holding me back is my lack of terrain. I need hedges/bocage, roads, wooded areas, walls. Other than that, here are my pretty much finished Normandy farms.

ParticipantI love the tree bark LOS blockers. Did you soak the bark in anything to prevent slow rot?

Thank you! I did not soak them in anything to prevent slow rot…I guess we will find out sooner or later if I regret that decision. I just picked them up from the play area floor and began painting them.

ParticipantAmbush! I nearly have enough terrain to actually play a game. Just need more hedges.

ParticipantUS Infantry Support. Has it really been 10 months? Genuinely one day I hope to use these figures. I feel the momentum right now and hope it continues like this for a while.

MemberLooking forward to seeing these in action. I’m taking notes in the hope of doing something similar at half size.

ParticipantI put in an order with Heroics and Ros last night in an attempt to build up my forces. Due to a mix up with my first purchase from them I ended up with four Sherman 76s and no regular M4s. What am I meant to do with four of those? So I ordered a whole bunch of regular Shermans, some M5s, half tracks, more infantry. I also ordered a bunch of German stuff including the sexy Panzerjäger IV.

Cut the barrel down and cover the back of the turret with stowage?
Make wrecked tanks? Smoke could cover up teh turret rear.21/08/2019 at 22:23 #120366Thuseld
ParticipantSome Pak 40s are up on the blog. Along with an MG42 and such. I hope to be ready for a game soon. I have quite a bit of bocage under construction also.

ParticipantI dig it.
Might I point out an inconvenient fact? You and I both have enough toys to play some Western Front WWII games in 6mm, but neither of us have yet to play a game. And don’t use the ‘all my terrain’s not done yet’ excuse, I’ve seen (at least some of) what you’ve got, you could play some games! Me too. I can’t for the life of me figure out why I’ve got some weird sort of inertia that’s keeping me from getting these on the table. Perhaps you and I need to enter into a pact? 😉

ParticipantWell, you’ve caught me with my pants down, unawares, as it were!
Gauntlet cast, gauntlet taken! 😉
And I appreciate the shove, I’m overdue. I got two dogfights and two platoon-level (Vietnam War) fights in this weekend, guess it’s time to bust out the 6mm WWII stuff though. I shall return.
Just no cackling when your stuff looks loads better than mine!

ParticipantThuseld,
They are looking great, as always, can’t wait to see them in action. I assume you’re still going with “A Sergeant’s War”? And good luck sneaking up on a King Tiger 😉
FYI, I have held up my end of the bargain: I’ve played three 6mm games using Blitzkrieg Commander. The first two are already posted, I’m working on the last batrep now.

ParticipantThe buildings, are they hacme mdf ones?
29/09/2019 at 19:55 #123446Thuseld
ParticipantJack I saw those reports and they intrigue me. I just struggle with abstraction of terrain at small scales, where a house may represent just a build up area.
Fred, yes they are the HACME buildings. I really like them and they are fairly cheap.

ParticipantI understand, but I don’t mind at higher echelons (each fight here has 2-3 battalions per side). For lower level/higher fidelity, I go with 10mm or 15mm.
