I had Norbrug back in the day.
Now I am buying a few 25mm WFB models I may have to track him down.

    I like rocks, pumice stone?

Why Tilea by the way and not The Border Princes or the glorious Empire?

Rocks = from Sandsend, north of Whitby. Gonna take them back one day!

As for Tilea, I had done the Empire and Border Princes in previous campaigns. The latter as far back as the 80s. I wanted a change, and I had enjoyed an internet campaign set in Tilea.

Excellent, I am so envious of your collection.

You have all the coolest toys!

But also, shame on the false clerics of Morr.

Are you not starting a 28 – 32 mm scale army? If so, you’ll have to fight some of my collection one day. You’ll win. Unless I play skaven. They do the winning for me!

I am, I am putting together a small Stirland force.
More lore/theme based than rules based, so you know, a bit scabby and rubbish so probably not capable of winning much.

    But Stirland for life!

Every force I have has been made according to the background of some campaign or other. None of them are competition tournament armies. That has never been where my head is at. I have to admit I am always the gamesmaster running campaigns rather than playing to win.

    Cool beans.

    Rules question.
How did the wizards spell malfunction, is that a 4th edition mechanic?

    #187320
    Avatar photoPadre

We use 8th edition. Any roll which includes a double six is cast irresistibly and cannot be dispelled either using dice or a scroll. But as the energies are so strong it also causes a miscast table roll. Some of the effects on that table are pretty catastrophic for the Wizard and anyone he is with. Indeed a bad roll on that table can make the wizard disappear into the realm of chaos never to be seen again.

Oh I have a question about WFB in general you may be able to answer, undead cavalry can move through walls as you noted, any idea why that is?

In your edition of the rules, do Fleglers kill themselves?

    Also, SUCK IT undead losers!!

    😀

Just that they have the ethereal rule but for movement only. Never understood the ‘logic’ behind the rule tbh.

Fledgers do, as mentioned in the Part 71 battle video many times. While in frenzy, several seem to die of their own hands every turn!

That is why I asked…  is it worth it?

In 3rd they don’t kill themselves.

Is it worth it??!! I should say so. Eternal rest granted to the holy martyr in Morr’s heavenly garden. Yes sirree that’s a reward worth one’s mortal life.

(Turns sensible mode on) In terms of a tournament army, or an army for battling in one off games, it is very definitely not worth it. They cost a fortune in points too.

But … this is a campaign world army. And the fate of Tilea hangs in the balance! I know some of my players (like Damo, aka Lord Alessio of Portomaggiore) really hone their army’s and get the max out of their points. But, many players’ armies, and certainly the umpteen NPC armies I put together, are all about theme, background, and a peppering of the rule of (Tilean) cool. If an almost entirely flagellant army was worth it I reckon the Disciplinati di Morr would not be anywhere as nearly unique as it is.

BTW, I was telling people yesterday about

    Also, SUCK IT undead losers!!

    Hee hee!

Yeah I am more a theme man myself.
I have a 60 model strong unit of levy peasants that suck butt a hundred times, but what is a Stirland army without an angry mob?

    A missed opportunity is what.

Do fleglers have frenzy and hatred in 8th?
    Are those indeed still things?

    #188603

They have frenzy. These home-ruled versions have hatred versus undead IF a Morrite priest is with them.

I had some of those GW models and the Grenadier ones.

    Granite Breaker is bad ass.
The gyrocopter is nice, much nicer than the more recent ones that look very sci-fi.

I thought those handguns looked bad-ass, home made!
    Nice work!!

Love the look of the Black Tree dwarven handguns. But have so much to paint already I am holding back from buying them. Love the look of the new Wargames Atlantic ogres too! But (etc). Meanwhile …

Tilea’s Troubles, Part 73, being a battle report, is up. Dwarfs and Bretonnians assault an Ogre held city. There are models from the 1980s onwards in the assaulting army, and scenery from the 70s in the city!

    Thanks for posting.

How come the attacker did not target the gate, allowing entry without destroying the walls?
Assuming they win and capture it, they will need to re-build the walls.

    Or did I miss something?

Love the staging though, as usual!

Not sure. I was GMing. Maybe the player trusted the power of Granite Breaker and thought (a) assaulting the walls would hurt more of the enemy in the blasting and/or (b) that the collapsed walls would be easier to assault? Long time ago, and although I kept copious notes (even keeping the pencil notes long after the report had been written up, all filed chronologically in case as GM I need to consult them later) I doubt the notes would go into the reasoning for that decision even if it was mentioned by the player!

(Edit) Or maybe the player was running the NPC force and therefore didn’t care what damage was done? In which case, my bad … as I should have given instructions not to unnecessarily damage the walls. Still … dwarfs know their rocks and probably just thought the repairs they did would only improve the walls!

Part 74 of Tilea’s Troubles is another account to help connect everything up! Antonio Mugello’s need to report everything to his beloved master, Lord Lucca, is a useful thing indeed! (I am trying to include a few more map illustrations to aid understanding even more!)

As mentioned somewhat bizarrely in the figures’ listing section at the end the wall hangings are golden silk cloth. I made a very fancy waistcoat from that same cloth many years ago in a 1680s style. It is so delicate it started to wear and tear within just a couple of days of use!
