Jérôme’s VIII Corps d’armée, the Polish V Corps, and the IV Reserve Cavalry Corps occupied Mir and the surrounding area. On 9 July 1812 Roznecki’s 4th Light Cavalry Division moved south of Mir with the intention of clearing the way for Jérôme’s advance south.
