My take on why green regiments fought as hard as they did.

    Two things,

    1.  It wasn’t until I got to the end of the paragraph about the 53rd Ohio that I realised that they weren’t a Black regiment.

    2.  I didn’t see anything that told me why green regiments fought as hard as they did – which was the main reason I clicked on the link to your blog.  Have you got further blog posts on this topic still to come?

    Sorry.

Ah yes, I needed to be more precise. I have edited the post to clear things up.

    1. The 53rd Ohio is now noted as a white regiment at the start of the paragraph.

    2. Seasoned officers are now mentioned as the source of USCT resilience.

At least that’s what I thought I wrote. Your mileage may vary. I aim for clarity and don’t always succeed.
