I have been reading through some (very) old issues of Miniature Wargames looking for some scenarios to play and I came across Verneuil 1424 in issue 3. However, the map is quite basic and I was wondering if there was more to the terrain than a flat plain with a road through the middle and a wood behind the English position? And if anyone knows any details as to the force composition of the Franco-Scottish force? The article indicates that the English army of 9000 would have been approxiately 4:1 bowmen to men-at-arms.

I have found impetus has done their homework with bow armies and while the English longbow is suitably tough it isn’t invincible. It is a element based game like dbx and I’m quite enjoying it, it has got me interested in the period again. You can download the basic rules for free from their website take a look. Enjoyed your aar mate.

I’m thinking that maybe an echeloned attack with a dismounted blade general might work? And having lots of dismounted troops in general.
Impetus is definitely on my “to try” list. I seem to remember being put off by something trivial when I last looked at them (something with the way the stats were presented? I can’t remember) but I’ll be interested to see what another ruleset makes of this particular battle.
