I’m pleased to announce a new partnership with Neal Reid to commercialize his new card game “VIII Corps: The Somme 1916”.

In the introduction Neal describes the game as follows:

This two player card game covers the experience of the British VIII Corps on the first day of the Battle of the Somme, July 1st 1916.

The game follows the course of the pre-battle preparation and the first day of the battle itself. One player is commander of VIII Corps, Lt. General Sir Aylmer Hunter-Weston. The other his opponent Lt. General Hermann von Stein commander of the German XIV Reserve Corps.

This is not a balanced game and one where the British will find it very hard to win.

The game is available in separate A4 & US letter versions. The pdf bundle contains a rules booklet, a booklet of illustrated examples of play and three sets of cards for you to print at home. We are contemplating producing printed cards if there’s sufficient demand.

The game is now available from Wargame Vault. For more details, images of the cards and free sample pages visit the Vexillia books page.

Neal and I have been looking forward to the launch. We’ve really enjoyed developing the game and on Tuesday we start work on the next one. We hope to have it ready by the end of June.
