    Hi alkl

I’m looking for suggestions for a mass battle set of rules for VSF, suitable for 6mm. Preferably with some sort of background and lists/forces/units so I don’t have to do a lot of work!

Would All Quiet on the Martian Front work?

    Just turn inches to cm?

Didn’t Black Hat have a set? IIRC Martian Empires?

I recall another called something like Valour, Flesh and Steel but I do not recall the publisher.

Space 1889 had Ironclads and Ether Flyers and I think there was a land component.

Never wrestle with a pig. You both get muddy and the pig just likes it.

Yeah, Space 1889: Soldiers Companion has land battle rules.

Those are brave men knocking at our door. Let's go kill them!

Thanks, I forgot I have Space 1899 kicking round so I will look at those as well.

I actually brought When the Navy walked. Only $5 for a pdf which is very reasonable. I found this preview and I like the sound of the rules.

Now the hard bit, getting 2 armies for it. I have FPW Germans and French with a lot of Germans already painted so I can add some VSF units. I’m also keen to add some non human forces which will be dinosaurs and riders from Microworld games, and/or 6mm Quar (which I have always admired).

Although I haven’t played it in 25 years, I remember the Soldier’s Companion as being rather dull and clunky, I have to say.

I played a game a couple of weeks ago using Death in the Dark Continent suitably ammended. Not my ammendments (I was a guest, as it were)  but it worked rather well, I have to say.
