Here’s a couple of 1:48 Hitlerjugend blokes. More than one person’s described this range as ‘absolutely awful’ sculpts…
    what say the Brethren?

It’s hard to tell, when figures have such good paint jobs.

Strelets 1/72 plastics look extremely unpromising out of the box, but we’ve seen some very nice-looking painted ones from Uno Wossisname.

    All the best,

    John.

It’s hard to tell because only two of the range are shown, and they are not the crispest of photos.  Your camera seems to have chosen to focus on the books in the background.  Perhaps another photo session will help me decide.

Before I joined Facebook I thought that a) most people were reasonable and intelligent, and b) they could spell words correctly. Guess what ......

Herself’s gobsmacked me wiv a good ‘un today. I’ve been painting a couple of Waffen SS blokes toting Panzerfausts. She stuck her snek at wot I was doing and then said…

“They’re them things that look like big toffee apples that you shoot at tanks.”

When I picked myself up from the floor I asked how she knew such wondrous things…

“Sometimes when you’re droning on, some of your crap registers, dear!”

The Nazis at the top do seem a touch out of scale with each other, just proportionally. But you did a nice job with the airborne troops, definitely. A light wash on the flesh might bring out the details a little but overall nicely done.

Thanks for that old bean.  All the figures in this range are weird and wonderful sculpts, a very cartoony 60s Commando Comics, look about ’em. Adding slightly over scale (1:43) vehicles to the recipe, I’m hoping, will give the daft look I’m after!

They certainly won’t mix with proper scale toy sowjers…

Here’s a thoroughly nasty piece of work in the shape of Obersturmbannführer August Von Richter, his vile underlings will not be far behind!

Really does have a sort of cartoony look, should be great for your 2-fisted-mayhem type fights.  Looking forwards to the game reports these guys will be involved in!

Kind of hard to top cartoonish SS types as the perfect bad guys. They are perfect foils for the stout defenders of all thing right and nicely painted as well.

Never wrestle with a pig. You both get muddy and the pig just likes it.

The bunch above had been in the stash for about 15 years before they got some paint splashed on ’em! 🙄
These big chaps have kind of grown on me, so I ordered a squad of 1:48 American Paratroopers from Scarab Miniatures. They arrived yesterday and the first one’s nearly painted…

I had no idea such 1/48 figs existed.  Wish I had heard of them 5 years ago!  Looking forwards to seeing your results.

Always good to have some unique figures to supplement more combat stanced figures.  Some of those are quite pricey as singles!  It’s a shame that the 1/48 plastic kit figures from some of the big model makers have such strange poses.  I mean, I get that they are intended for dioramas but you wonder if the makers had actually seen human beings before.
