Hi all
What rules would anybody recommend for skirmish games in the line of Water Margin, Journey to the West, and the old video game Bandit Kings of Ancient China?
A few years ago there were rumblings about a ruleset from Ganesha Games specifically for Black Hats (beautiful, oh so beautiful) Tales of the Dragon Kings range, but this seems to have died out.
What I am considering using is:
Song of Blades and Heroes
Ronin
LotR SBG (nice because the battles can be scaled up a bit)
Frostgrave
Any thoughts or suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks
Those are brave men knocking at our door. Let's go kill them!
In Her Majesties Name with the Sleeping Dragon, Rising Sun Supplement would be a good start. Low figure count but scale-able, lot’s of room for “Heroic”actions/skills and fast play.
Lion Rampant & Dragon Rampant spring to mind.

Try Daisho – skirmish wargaming in mythical Japan. Based on the IHMN core rules this has pretty much most of what you would need for the Water Margin.
