What rules would anybody recommend for skirmish games in the line of Water Margin, Journey to the West, and the old video game Bandit Kings of Ancient China?
A few years ago there were rumblings about a ruleset from Ganesha Games specifically for Black Hats (beautiful, oh so beautiful) Tales of the Dragon Kings range, but this seems to have died out.
What I am considering using is:
Song of Blades and Heroes
LotR SBG (nice because the battles can be scaled up a bit)
Any thoughts or suggestions gratefully received.

In Her Majesties Name with the Sleeping Dragon, Rising Sun Supplement would be a good start. Low figure count but scale-able, lot’s of room for “Heroic”actions/skills and fast play.06/10/2016 at 20:46 #50010Steve JohnsonParticipant
Lion Rampant & Dragon Rampant spring to mind.07/10/2016 at 04:55 #50021craig cartmellParticipant
Ready to be accused of blowing my own trumpet 🙂
Try Daisho – skirmish wargaming in mythical Japan. Based on the IHMN core rules this has pretty much most of what you would need for the Water Margin.
