Just a heads-up, Yevgeny Zamyatin’s seminal Proto SF book ‘WE’ is now on project Gutenberg. It’s one of those books all SF historians mention, but few have read.

It’s not Great I have to say, and certainly not wargamey, but as I go on Gutenberg every morning I thought I would start mentioning anything that comes up that people on TWW might like to read free and Gratis

It made a welcome change from the usual run of Russian literature when I was a student.

Once you’ve read it, it will become obvious where Aldous Huxley nicked his best ideas for “Brave New World”.

    All the best,

    John.

He claims he had the idea already in his head for Brave New World when WE came out. Surrrre Aldous, we believe you….. a bit

    Gutenberg is a wonderful resource.

It’s a shame I don’t speak any forrin. I am just re-reading ‘Ring of Steel’ which is the history of WWI from the perspective of the Central Powers, and it mentions that toward the end of the war there was a rash of ‘Penny Dreadfuls’ in which manly German U-Boat commanders battled the dastardly Brits… and Lo, one of them was uploaded today. The Cover looks Great!
