Lots of new posters. Happy dance!!
05/03/2015 at 02:56 #19077War PandaParticipantI didn’t realize there was an introduction page here! Just would like to say hello. I’m John. I’m Irish. I’m living in Western Canada for the last 3 years. Playing WW2 Wargames for approx 10 years. I’d like to congratulate Mike on an amazing site. Really friendly atmosphere. Well done for the show of initiative 🙂

Well finally I’ve decided to try to knock together a short intro about myself and to just say “HELLO” to everyone! The snag is I’m never any good at this sort of thing, still here goes!
My name is David and I live in Northern Ireland. I work in education administration, something I’ll have been doing for thirty years on the 5th of April (cards and especially presents can be sent via the editors ).
I’ve been wargaming since 1992, and my interests are WW2 Naval, WW2 Land, Spanish Civil War, French-Indochina and the later Vietnam War.
I’ve been actually a member of TWW for about seven months now, but while I didn’t post very much I was always lurking in the background, spying on all of you, taking notes and typing this in an extremely dark and threatening manner… (cue the menacing music).
And that’s about it, so I’ll be seeing you all in the forums!
Youth, talent, hard work, and enthusiasm are no match for old age and treachery.

S. Miniature Studio and have an online shop and I would really appreciate any tips or advise on how I can expand my shop to make it as successful as possible

11/08/2016 at 21:52 #46370WigglesParticipantHello all.
So I’ve been drawn here for a number of reasons, not least because I read a thread where this forum outed itself as the filthy SJW feminazi collective of wargamings online presence, and I find that immensely attractive, as I’m vaguely interested in the socio-political aspects of our hobby and it’s future.
Mostly, however, when I’m not navel gazing I actually find time to play a variety of games.
My mainstay game is Flames of War and I’ve started to play some Armada with a regular opponent (it’s low effort and fun).
My real love is post apocalyptic and I’ve played a variety of skirmish systems in that genre. I’m also writing my own rules for conflicts between platoon level formations.
My lead pile also comtains various other genres and scales including ultra-modern in 28mm and cold war in 6mm.
I’m not going to lie, I’ll probably be a little quiet here, I have my local club site for Flames and the Post Apocalyptic Wargames forum for – well – post-apocalyptic wargames. However, I’m thinking of getting into narrative driven modern spec-ops which no one really plays in my area, so the idea is to build up first the lure someone in.
Basically. I wanna play everything and don’t have time… 🙁
You can find my main blog here: http://miniaturestrategy.blogspot.co.uk/
And the blog/site for my post-apocalyptic rules here: http://armiesoftheaftermath.blogspot.co.uk/ P.S. It’ll be at Blast-tastic!

Thanks for joining too.

18/08/2016 at 01:49 #46786PatGParticipantOh we’re doing intros? I’m Pat usually know as PatG. I used to hang out on WD3 but now I’m on another smaller board and here.
Usual story for those of us in our early 50’s – Britains, Airfix, AH, SPI, D&D, AD&D, WH – second ed, Traveller, Micro-armour, Work, school, marriage, work, family, work and a very long gaming dead space. Got back into tabletop gaming in 2009 with DBA and DBMM (Go Ancient Brits!), though I haven’t played much of that recently. Current games are Soldier’s Companion – Space 1889 Mass Battle, Chain of Command – Home Guard and FJ in 28mm, Canadian Motor Platoon and assorted bad guys in 20mm plastic, Gruntz, IHMN, and a little Aeronef and I am converting some Baccus ancients for Warmaster.

19/08/2016 at 07:19 #46879McKinstryParticipantHey. Recent refugee from elsewhere who found this site by recommendation from others (including Howard so don’t hold that against me).
I like the format and relaxed gaming focused vibe.
Recent transplant to Colorado and still feeling my way around the gaming scene but continuing to paint the little fellows 6-10mm, 1/200-1/6000 naval.
I’m a complete techno-troglodyte but will endeavour to figure out how to post pictures.

Talking about gaming is my third favorite thing after lava surfing and dreaming about retiring in 8 months.

20/08/2016 at 00:51 #47007Kevin SmythParticipantHello, I’m Kevin. I’m a recent refugee from TMP, ’nuff said. It’s nice to see familiar faces or at least names here. I’ve poked through the forums a bit and like what I see.
I’m from the U.S., Washington State in the upper left corner. I began miniature gaming in 1970 with RoCo minitanks. Today I am pretty much a 28mm gamer with some ships and planes thrown in for fun. My current project is working on a Lion Rampant variant for Aztecs and Conquistadors with a friend.
I’m a high school teacher by day. I teach American history and English, and am the newspaper and yearbook adviser. I’ve been married to an incredibly understanding woman for 38 years, and have three Australian shepherds. I also collect vinyl records.
Looking forward to hanging out and showing off some of my stuff.

03/09/2016 at 07:19 #47910Rod RobertsonParticipantHey there Ochoin! It’s good to see you here and about. Welcome, and rest assured, officially we love all scales, genres and time periods of miniature gaming, real or imagined. Unofficially, what is wrong with all those Nappies enthusiasts?! Be calm, I jest! …… Or do I?
Cheers and good gaming.

Doing 20mm myself – easy to convert, dirt cheap plastics with that hipster retro-gaming feel, and for the connoisseur really nice metals from AB et al – what’s not to like?

03/09/2016 at 12:26 #47927Maff SparkesParticipantHello
I’m Maff and recently arrived on a Nansen passport having found my residency elsewhere….revoked.I’m currently fascinated by the idea of 1920/30s pulp gaming but with a bit more politics to ground it and a dash of TinTin to lighten it. That said I have the usual CV for an early 50s gamer; I was a founder member of the Winter of 79 adventure and am currently having great fun creating random events tables with a certain Viking Muskpelid.
Oh and Kyote – good to see those grey federales haven’t caught up with you!
Cheers!

03/09/2016 at 13:10 #47932AnonymousInactiveBack after an extended absence, I have an intro on page 1 if you are suffering from insomnia. Rarely visit the two major three letter non-GW sites for diametrically opposed reasons (and enough of that) but there are some changes:
All my aerial pieces are now 3mm only.
Hx, (historical,) Sx (Science Fiction), Fx (Fantasy, and VSF buying are al 15/18mm only except for a few legacy 25mm armies from the 1970s and early 1980s- such as Der Kriegspieler dwarf, elf, and goblins/lesser orcs (smiley faced shark teeth types) or selected Ral Partha/Tom Meier dwarf and goblin figures. The legacy buying is mostly single figure unit filling.
And gnomes for the wife who doesn’t wwar game but likes gnomes.. Halflings, because of Tolkien, that I have completed my buying plans for them.
In newer 25/28mm figures I am completed buying miniatures – I have Zorro/Presidials/Indios/ Soldados de Cuera/villagers for the period of 1680 to 1770s Spain in the North American Southwest and California (yes, Zorro was written for later but it works for me.) Zorro also can double for IHMN gaming.
I have a small lot buying plan for 2017 thru 2020 (though honestly I have TBD in all the excel boxes after early 2018) that will complete my figures buying for the rest of my life (just playing and painting after that.) Go Me!!!!
So far this year I have given away totaling several open table sessions well over a thousand figures for projects I have decided not to continue anymore (and trash canned the left behinds) and fell quite satisfied with that plus a repeat planned for the last lot to be disposed of in September or October.
That’s it for me.
04/09/2016 at 08:31 #47965Deleted UserMemberThanks, Rod et al.
I’ve found that I can only give a commitment to about two forums: keeping up with the posts& occasionally interrupting the flow of wisdom with a dull comment or so.
My “other” forum is WD3
http://www.wd3.org.uk/index.php
Possibly the best & most active small forum out there. I hope the editor doesn’t mind me giving it a plug….
