I’ve struggled to paint my 10mm WFB of late, so I decided to start on something different.
21 years ago these goblins, and forty more like them, were sprayed chaos black and packed into a box ready for a house move. They have sat waiting in that box for all these years and have been through five more house moves.
Each time we moved house I nearly sold them, but when I opened the box and peered inside, I remembered the dream of one day owning a fully painted orc and goblin army and I couldn’t bring myself to part with them. So the box was closed and the goblins moved house with us to live in yet another dark and dusty loft.
Well, a couple of weeks ago, after reading through various posts on various forums, Warhammer Fantasy Battle Facebook groups, blogs and watching WFB related YouTube content, I felt inspired and retrieved the box out of the loft.
After 21 years these goblins are finally getting some paint on them.
This is them a week ago.
I’ve done a few more and have started sculpting some shields for them. Here is where they are at now.

I’m really enjoying the switch back to 28mm after painting the 10mm stuff.

One who puts on his armour should not boast like one who takes it off.

I managed to get a bit more work done on them.
Sculpted and painted a load of shields + painted six more goblins.
This means I’m almost half way through the goblins now!

The original shields didn’t fit in with the look I wanted.
These are all sculpted out of a mix of roughly 60/40 green stuff and milliput-black.
PS: What edition rules?
Warhammer – any edition from 3rd – 6th edition.
They will also be used in Oathmark and Dragon Rampant + any other game that require goblins with spears and shields.

Yees! At first glance I thought they had bronze weapons before noticing the closer view.
Like the shields too.
I have Goblins painted with Humbrol 30 years ago… sometimes I take a few of them and I try to improve them a bit with acrylic…

Very nice. Is it worth making a mould of them so you can just cast as you need them?
I’ve ordered a moulding and casting kit as well as some stuff to make press moulds.
That said, I’ve become quite adept at sculpting them quickly. Made around 40 this weekend whilst watching a couple of movies with my wife.

I ended up sculpting all the shields before the mould making materials got here and I managed to get the basecoat done on forty more goblins. I’ll take some pictures of them when I get a chance this week.
