Definitely NetEpic. Failing that (that is to say, if I happen not to like it for whatever reason) some derivation of Future War Commander would be my go-to system.
And TB, if they fail as speeders, I may use them as Howlers in my 3mm 6-Commando game set which I just thought of right now for the first time.
Or maybe I’ll send them to you. We’ll see.
31/05/2015 at 00:01 #25329Thaddeus BlanchetteParticipantWhatever; Just don’t let them rot! If you don’t have a use for them, I certainly do! 😉 Good find there, by the way.
I am going to see Fury Road in an hour or so and will probably come back enthused for science fiction again.
We get slapped around, but we have a good time!
31/05/2015 at 00:11 #25330Mr. AverageParticipantDon’t worry – they’ll find a place in my order of battle or yours, one way or the other!
And speaking of Fury Road – check out what Microworld Games has in the works – Road Warriors! Them and some AB shantytowns? Oh my, yes.
31/05/2015 at 05:02 #25335Mr. AverageParticipantFirst complete portion of the contingent – a Land Raider company.
The bases all needed a little tocuh-up with pure black, but that accomplished I’m very pleased with the outcome!
The next Battle Company is underway.
31/05/2015 at 18:27 #25358Mr. AverageParticipantWith the Ultramarines well in hand, it’s time to get this Heresy underway! The OPFOR: who else but the first and most ancient enemy of the Ultramarines: the Word Bearers, the great traitors of Legio XVII, Damnatio Memoriae in Perpetua. First test-case for the Word Bearers is quite satisfactory, although the eight-pointed star is a bit beyond me at this scale, I think. I may overpaint it with something similar like the “sulphur” symbol on the front glacis plate – easier to paint and yet still “chaos-y” in flavor.
31/05/2015 at 18:51 #25359MikeKeymaster31/05/2015 at 20:16 #25360Thaddeus BlanchetteParticipantYou might be able to get an adequately-sized decal for that chaos symbol, Mat. Or hell, just print your own.
We get slapped around, but we have a good time!
31/05/2015 at 20:20 #25361Mr. AverageParticipantI may well try that. Or simply come up with some variation that’s easier to paint. Although on reflection having it be a bit scraggly actually looks “right” for a traitor legion repainting their own tanks in the field. I’ll just see how it follows through.
As for 6mm Car Wars? Well, let me just say “Yes, yes, a thousand times yes!”
31/05/2015 at 21:43 #25371Thaddeus BlanchetteParticipantMight want to do a color that “pops” more than grey on those Word Bearers, however. Or is that canon?
We get slapped around, but we have a good time!
31/05/2015 at 21:44 #25372Thaddeus BlanchetteParticipantMust…. resist… 3mm Warhampster 40k….
We get slapped around, but we have a good time!
31/05/2015 at 21:57 #25373Mr. AverageParticipantIt’s a canonical color for the Word Bearers. And the fact that I photographed it under a fluorescent light makes it look far lower contrast than it actually is. It looks nearly white in real life.
And I won’t presume to tell you what to do or not, but I think you’d be a master at this if you chose to do 40K at the scale.
31/05/2015 at 22:39 #25375Thaddeus BlanchetteParticipantChrist, I still have to finish Ogre. And I already have sooooo much sci-fi stuff. Still…
We get slapped around, but we have a good time!
31/05/2015 at 23:36 #25377Thaddeus BlanchetteParticipantIf I were anywhere near where you are, I’d do an Eldar or Tau army, just for giggles. But I am NOT going to do two WH40k armies.
No way.
Besides, 6mm quar come first.
(Although 6mm Angry Marines…. You could do a titan with a landraider launcher….)
We get slapped around, but we have a good time!
01/06/2015 at 00:08 #25380Mr. AverageParticipantYeah I get that. Alas, I’m stuck doing two armies, as most if not all of my club is generally anti-Sci Fi, not to speak of anti-3mm. “It’s a new idea, therefore we fear it. So it must be rejected.”
gripe gripe gripe
Its probably an outdated perception on my part, but the last time I rolled out a sci fi game at the club about five people stopped by to make fun of it, but nobody took the time to play. Hence my general assumption that if I’m going to play any game I have to prepare both sides myself.
03/06/2015 at 23:59 #25637Mr. AverageParticipantI’ve been thinking of the next step here, filling out my Horus Heresy milieu with Imperial Army forces, which are always good for running on the guns of the enemy in big battles. And ooo boy, check out this new O8 release:
If that isn’t a beautiful Imperial Basilisk, I don’t know what is. And how about a Manticore?
And I’m warming up to the idea of a BMP-3 as a Chimera:
04/06/2015 at 01:54 #25641Thaddeus BlanchetteParticipantNow we can use that, along with the sword-waving Japanese officer from O8’s Japanese infantry set, and we can make Commissar Dan!

We get slapped around, but we have a good time!
04/06/2015 at 14:01 #25665Thaddeus BlanchetteParticipantHmm. Don’t know why that link to Commissar Dan and his Basilisk Fluffy fell down, went boom. His story is here, in any case: http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Commissar_Dan
And we also have Commissar John F*klaw…..
Not only can we do Space Marines in 3mm, we can do the whole alternative canon.
We get slapped around, but we have a good time!
15/06/2015 at 05:20 #26157Mr. AverageParticipantProgress! Oh my, yes. The first Battle Company is complete, along with some support units taking shape.
]
That’s a Battle Company (front to back, a Tactical Detachment, an Assault Detachment, and a Devastator Detachment), led by a command retinue, including the Princeps Comitatorum or “Company Captain” (Left), the Custos Rotulorum or “Chaplain” (Center), and the Custos Medicae or “Medic” (Right). To the right, a Land Raider company awaits three detachments of Veterans, who are next on the block.
And as promised, these are the Land Speeders, underway. I’m basing them in flights of two, to give them a slightly bulkier effect on the table.
Not a perfect proxy, but close enough.
Still Marching for Macragge, here, as they say!
15/06/2015 at 05:39 #26158Mr. AverageParticipantA few close-ups, for fun and profit.
Princeps Comitatorum, Custos Rotulorum, and Custos Medicae.
Tactical Detachment, close-up. Standard Marine troops of the line, looking very disciplined.
Assault Detachment, with their storm bolters at the ready, red helmets denoting their readiness to get rough with the enemies of Mankind.
Devastator Detachment, denoted by green helmets and shoulderpads, with noticeably heavier weapons, ready to blow the hell out of something big.
And support units not seen elsewhere yet (I think). Predator, Vindicator and Whirlwind.
15/06/2015 at 22:03 #26184Thaddeus BlanchetteParticipantMy, those landspeeders look tasty! Just beautiful!
We get slapped around, but we have a good time!
16/06/2015 at 07:52 #26193Alexander WasbergParticipantWow. A beautiful sight indeed! Great work!

25/06/2015 at 08:31 #26659bishnakParticipantWow, that 3mm WH40k stuff is awesome! Respect!
Between your work and Thad’s, it is increasingly difficult for me not to branch into 3mm sci-fi…
