Now that I have concluded The Genesis Findings. For those of you who haven’t seen it. Basically it’s a 6mm SF adventure based on AB’s RDF miniatures. With a story and scratch built scenery to boot.

I’m wondering what to do as a next project. Basically I’ve have two different ideas and am wondering what people would like to see. Both 6mm based. I say 6mm based because I do like to throw in other stuff. Which I think fit it, such as 10mm stuff from DZC, the odd 15mm bit etc…..

I have a hacking for another 6mm Sci-fi adventure project OR a 6mm fantasy adventure project. Both will have a story attached (all ready have a few ideas). Here’s what I’m thinking of building.

    6mm Sci-fi.

The story will probably be a continuation of my RDF world. Character based with the main RDF character. The story would see Major McCallum and his team on Earth from Mars/Proxima B. I’m thinking of using the Cityscape scenery from Hawk wargaming. Plus building a more involved airbase next to it. With whatever internal scenery I like, plenty of scope for that. As for mini’s, well the usual RDF stuff from AB, I have some Darkest Star minis I need to paint. Would look to included those plus I have a few Mecha Front walkers. Could throw all that into the mix and have a jolly good adventure in a city environment. I’m thinking of basing this on Starport Scum.

    6mm Fantasy

Again, thinking of basing this on Dungeon Scum with no shortage of story. I love Game of Thrones and LofTR and will drew on these for inspiration. The adventure, like the SF one would follow a group of characters. I’m also inspired by the 90’s computer game “Moonstone: A Hard Days Knight” for the Amiga. Used to love that game. The scenery would be the usual Medieval/fantasy stuff. Creepy graveyard, the forest of the dead, layer of the dragon. Oh, the list goes on. As for minis I have a hacking for some Perfect Six Miniatures. These would fit the bill nicely. I could throw in the odd dragon. Orcs, gobins, army of the dead. Throw in a bit of Greek Mythology, you name it. I could get the characters into all sorts of trouble.

So, which one? Help me make up mind please. What do you fancy seeing?

Sorry for being ignorant, but I have no clue what this means. Honestly. What’s AB and what’s RDF?

    AB = Angel Barracks

RDF = Regional Defence Force, one of the factions in AB’s Science Fiction range

Not being ignorant at all Phil. If you don’t do Science Fiction and/or 6mm then you wouldn’t. Basically I buy what minis I like from whatever manufacturer (mainly 6mm). I generally keep the names that manufacture has given to their products.

So for example, Angel Barracks has manufactured a science fiction 6mm APC or IFV and called it a PathFinder. In my little Science Fiction world I’ve kept the name. I find when creating games it helps with association.

So that’s one vote for fantasy so far then!

Always eager to see people post more Starport SCum but then you said “Moonstone” and I was like “yes”.

    What now?

With no more than a cursory glance, I’d throw all references to 6 (or 15)mm out the window.

What point do they serve other than to restrict your target audience?

Seriously: What purpose is served with this?  What’s the point of including the size of the figures used in the game?

Does this count as another fantasy vote?

Voting is bourgeois decadence, but .. yeah, I think I’d rather see the fantasy setup. We don’t get nearly enough 6mm fantasy as it is

I can’t really answer much more than what Ivan said. I’m just building a wargaming world, either Scfi or fantasy. Using three core ingredients. The miniatures, then the story to fit in with the miniatures and finally scenery to go with it all.

I already have 6mm scfi miniatures. But no fantasy minitures yet. So I could start with any scale I want. It’s just that I like Perfect Six Minitures and they only do 6mm. So leaning towards that.

Are you trying to fudge things?

Isn’t this the bit you need to convince me to drop the 6mm fantasy idea and go with 15mm? Tell me that it’s far better to go with a Conan fantasy theme instead of medieval fantasy theme.

You mentioned the size of figures you used, why can’t he?

Well that of course would be wisest choice, but I would not like to enforce wisdom on you.

    Don,

Greg responded to your first query 3 posts above this second query of yours.

He isn’t trying to sell a set of rules or a game, he’s asking what people think his next project should be about – and he has the 6mm SF figs already but no Fantasy.

There is no ‘target audience’ as such, he’s just asking people to talk his next project through with him.
