I’m asking about 1930s cars, mainly.  Thoughts?

    Thanks!

HO scale, though over-sized,  might be an option.

There used to be a couple of  1930s vintage cars available from 15mm WW II manufacturers.  I have two different, but got them circa 1990, and can’t remember the manufacturers.

Peter pig makes one of those mentioned above, a French Citroen in their WW II line.

I want to say the other was  an old FAA miniature, but don’t know who might have those now.

Some of the wartime trucks were also in civilian use, so models of things like the Citroen 23 and Opel Blitz could be painted as civilian vehicles.

You may find something here though not very ‘pulp’ and here if you fancy an armoured car (or tank) for the bad guys…

Zvezda used to do a few trucks in 1/100th that may fit and the Darkst Star 15SSV03- Super Sports car would be ace for the bad guys get-away vehicle.

Both Matchbox and Hot Wheels seem to be getting larger now – the ‘pound shop’ cheap plastic / metal bags and boxed sets have disappeared locally, these where a better match size wise (it may be a temporary stocking issue as the space was still on the shelf).

I know its not on your list but here is a neat Ornithopter – just imaging the good guys flying in on a couple of these!

I had a ton of problem finding cars.  The best place I found was the flea market.  Since you’ll probably want to paint them anyway you can find some in the beat up bin.  There are a couple of Marvel cars that were in the 30s vibe.  If you look underneath the car  you can usually find a date.

Some cars appear often, 1932 pick up trucks, and sedans from 1935 come up often.

let me know if you want me to send pics.  Ertl made some cool delivery trucks too,

at £6 for 4 cars what’s to worry about? It’s been 20 years since I painted a car, so my only worry will be the winsdscreens 🙂

    Matchbox.  Listed as 1935

    Matchbox 1934

    ERTL 1932

I got this one a while ago and ended up trading it away.   I know it is a 1920s car and came in a pack of three.  I didn’t like the open seating.  I didn’t like how it painted up.  All the cars are primed black and then just drybrushed.  I stayed away from some of the more garish colors.  Around the wheels I added a little brown to simulate dirt.  All of them were beat up flea market finds.  Those collectors want a fortune.
